i dont any of the above but i meet the man himself at truckfest a couple of years ago and he was a really nice genuine fella.

Sorry to hijack the thread… but He is a gentleman and a very hard worker although
not been well recently… so wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.

Regards
Neville.

To be honest never met the man but I know a chap who works out of the same office block in Folkestone and he says exactly the same as JD and NEVILLE in that you would have trouble to meet nicer people.

And… Davie is a man who never asks anyone to do what he has not done or will not do himself
and is a great example… to us all. It all looks so easy to run trucks, and try to make a living
but please… try it… make the same commitment and you will find it is not.

And there is even a gang of Malcom spotters.

Yes, I have worked there a few times (Part time kind of thing). Everything that’s been said is true! He’s a gentlemen, really nice genuine fella, man of his word, Etc, Etc.

Have double manned with him down to Czech as well, Great laugh and true gent.

All of his drivers/staff would bend over backwards for him, Think that says it all!.

I have spoke to him a few times as we are both in the meat game, I don’t know Davey himself but I have only heard complimentary things about the man.
Good Work, Good Kit, Good Company by all accounts.

Never ever, has a truer comment been made on here Neville, as the saying goes, if it was that easy, EVERY pratt would be doing it :unamused:

Its got to be one of the toughest trades going, if you can make money out of haulage, you can make money out of anything…

I bought a truck off Davie & got to spend best part of a day with him waiting for money to clear etc, he is a bang on bloke & a pleasure to be in the company of. The truck I bought was immaculate & the right price IMO. Davie would’nt let me take it untill it was valetted & washed.

I’ve rang a few times since for some info & nothing is too much trouble for him. I get the feeling he would’nt ask you to do what he would’nt do his self. The trucks are what they are & I’ve had next to nothing go wrong with mine for 9 months after buying it. They get what they need when they need it.

Its a pity there are’nt a few more blokes in road transport like Davie Malcolm.

Sounds top notch. How do I get a job?

You can normally tell good haulage companies by the fact they rarely need to advertise for drivers, and this bloke sounds like one of them who won’t need to advertise.

Nice to hear that not all the goodun’s have been ground into the dirt by the [zb]'s in the haulage industry.

I work for the big man himself, been here about 18 months now not a crossed word or fall out,
the job is what it is large amount of hanging meat but moving in to other areas now.
you can go pretty much anywhere from sweden to turkey, russia and everything in between.
trucks are top spec scania or volvo with a couple of renault premiums not sure but i think that’s to remind us how lucky we are  they all have fridges microwaves and coffee makers.
trailers are a little different from the norm with spread axles, rear steer and set toward the back but give a much more stable ride with the hanging loads.
money ok, although times hard out there with companies falling by the wayside some taking pay cuts.
the big man’s been there and done that so yes you will never be asked to a job he has not .
its hard graft you treat him right and you’ll get the same back
