does anyone know what hapened to dave millars 142 areodyne ?
hi,
saw it in the mid 90’s,was a wrecker then with,ny recovery from kent?
regards andrew.
I believe NY recovery used it to take the equipment from their old Kenworth K100 which had been in a fire, this would have been mid 90’s.
I have seen pictures of it since painted in the yellow livery of Mutch recovery from [I think] Perth.
Here’s a pic’ of the inside of it, as was!
And again!
Or this 1, cos he had 2!
Ahead of its time then for a European wagon with the large Yank influence, with the opening sleeper door etc!
Hi Chris,
That " a"registered 142 survives to this day,as you are probably aware? It was at the retro, hereford show etc.the newer aerodyne 142 was pretty revolutionary given when it was built etc.i can remember seeing dave millar’s fl10’s in the abbey in the early- mid 90’s,bit of a come down after an aerodyne 142
Regards Andrew.

Hi Andrew, It’s a funny thing about these 1 off custom jobs, the original owner will spend £000s on them to make them unique, which you can understand for a owner-driver or a fleet who want a Centenary Flag-ship etc, so many are never treated with the same TLC by future owners, usually passing through the hands of a few other small hauliers/owner-drivers slowly deteriorating until you eventually find them looking sad & forelorn at the back of a scrap-yard or behind a garage!
Regards Chris
Werent they tractor/machinery dealers?..the name sort of rings a bell…then seeing D&F Miller on the door
There are loads of smart retro trucks out there but Howells 142 is my favorite by a long shot!!
I saw the yellow recovery truck on the A90 roadworks yesterday and I’m desperate to try to find out if it is Dave’s old truck, it looked like it had the cream interior. I was about 14 when Dave showed it at Truckfest and I had already fallen in love with the truck from an article in a truck mag. I couldn’t stop looking at it all weekend, Dave let me sit in it, I was completely star struck more so than meeting any celebrity. Reg was B16 GMR I think on the yellow recovery truck. I will have to go in the loft and see if I can find any of the old photos up there.
It would be fantastic to find out the truck is still on the road.
it is daves old truck a friend of mine on facebook has pics of it taken recently
