Are these dash cams any good for night driving? Usually video cameras are crap at night image wise.
Wow. That was close mark.
I use the one from maplins which has a lot on but it cam be set to turn off after 10 seconds so the screen is not am issue, day quality is excellent and night quality is Ok. Will get some samples on.
Fits on the top of windscreen no problem and the cable is about a mile long so can be routed accordingly.
yer, closer than anything previously experienced, I thought I actually bumped him for the split second at the end, ABS the whole lot was working overtime
I am primarily a night driver, and the DR500 works pretty bloody well at night as well tbh.
A couple of small tweaks to the firmware have helped as well tho, can point any potential owners in the right direction if they buy one.
Phantom Mark:
I have a full HD Blackvue DR500G-wifi, you use an app on either your android or apple device to view the recodings remotely via wifi thus it has no screen.Cracking piece of kit, but not cheap…it also has speed overlay and maps etc, the full monty.
Would not be without it, A little sample.

The speed overlay is slightly lagged like most GPS speed devices btw.
I like the comment on the youtube video : “I’m glad that you reacted like this, good skilled truck driver”.
I’m sorry, but what the actual ■■■■? Good, skilled truck driver? A more accurate description would be “truck driver driving like a [zb]”. Barrelling up the slip road on the limiter inches away from stationary traffic is about as stupid as it gets. It’s thick ■■■■■ like you that give the rest of us a bad name.

If I had a dashcam I would be deleting stuff like that before anybody else found out about it!
I certainly would not post it on youtube!
Because of the car transporter blocking your view, you were completely unaware of what was happening beyond it, nothing wrong in what you did, but the way you did it was totally wrong, that was far too fast and if you did hit the van it would’ve been 100% your fault because of that, even if the DH in the van was a numpty for pulling out like that…
Ohh, you are posh Mark! Black vue wifi indeed.
I’m afraid I have to concur with our forthright brethren but in a slightly more polite way. As an experienced wagon driver you should be waiting on muppetry to come at you from every angle, defensive driving. What could happen if…
I didn’t see all of the video but you were driving too fast past the stationary artic on the slip in my opinion.
I am no saint by any means & I’m not having a go but if you post vids on you tube and particularly in here, prepare to be critiqued!
I like the look of the koolertron for £60 on amazon.
