one on here was waxing about an aussie super heavy duty dash cam which looked ace as well, do a search.

The best thing about dashcams is that suddenly from the misery and drudgery of your normal working day you capture something perfect, something of such beauty that it leaves you feeling warm and happy for a long long time!

Enjoy.

I had one of the cheap ones but I’ve recently got a transcend drive pro.
Such better quality and field of vision. It’s worth spending the extra money.

+1

Might sound a dumb question

Whats the point of a dash cam anyway… is it for insurance purposes for something ? :open_mouth:

They’re so you can post vids of bad driving to youtube and link them to TNUK of course!

Seriously though, in three years I’ve had two accidents on roundabouts where i’ve been cut up and a dash cam really would have helped me out. I came out as not as fault in both cases, but a dash cam would have speeded up the insurance process.

Looks like there are some decent ones out there for about £50

Seriously need a like button on these forums

Ive just bought one of these blackvue.eu/Blackvue_DR650GW.php Its not cheap, but very good 1080p resolution. I didnt want to waste money on one with a screen either, as its not really useable. This devices has apps for your phone or tablet that you can use to review or change settings in the unit via a dedicated wifi link in the cab

What I like about the Blackvue, is that its a 2 channel device, meaning it has 2 cameras, the second one is for a rearward view, but instead I use it to cover the blind spot out of the passenger window. I got side swiped a while back and this side camera would have caught the whole thing.

The software is also very good for reviewing the data

I bought a road hawk u pay for what u get not had any issues with it yet picture great just wish it had bluetooth to make it easier when on the road had a few irate car drivers but when I point to the camera they soon disappear

Well I just ■■■■ myself for the 3rd time this week, thanks for that.

The blackvue & road hawk are good but expensive.

Whatever you do don’t post the footage in here as you’ll get all the significantly better drivers than you giving it beans.

I have to say that when we were laying in to Leeds Chris for ramming that car on the roundabout the dash cam footage does not look as bad as the actual incident.

Bear in mind that the dash cam is 2 foot lower down than your eyes.

I posted one too SS and got flamed just as you did. Ive not replied to any of the comments on your thread as I’m having a grumpy day and might upset a few people.
I like that yours records your co-ordinates but recording the speed can possibly come back to bite the user.

As you should never admit blame, if I had done something stupid and it was my personal cam I am afraid the evidence would go missing unless Mr Plod spotted the cam and saw it working.
I bought it to protect me not drop me in it if I can help it

My main reason for the cam is motorway slip roads :imp:
Though I do find having the cam makes me drive a tad more defensively.

They’re a funny thing. Some drivers will be more agressive as they feel they have the moral highground and are less forgiving for genuine mistakes. The others will tend to drive more defensively. It can be interesting to play back some of your drives just to see what you think as just an observer.
Most footage worth saving from mine is nothing to do with accidents but just day to day funnies that we encounter in this job.

I was quite impressed with myself when playing the vids back, but thats also when I decided to turn the voice recorder off, I didnt realise I swore that much on my own and how god awful my singing is

Yes I didn’t realise quite how blue I can turn the air when someone upsets me.

I find that playback ‘feels’ a lot faster than it actually is. I viewed a section of footage that I know for a fact I was doing bang on 30 (no gps on the unit) and it looked more like 40, just looked to be too fast for the road.
