I don’t know if i’m barking but having been stuck at Dartford for what seems a lifetime i made a couple of observations, don’t know if anyone agrees.
Now i need to post my colours and say i do have a problem with all these trucks coming over from europe.
It seems to me that Dartford is so slow these days because in part all these wagons having to stop and get out to pay the toll.
Well if we are going to see an increase in them and it does seem most of europe is here these days would it not make sence to make at least some of the booths double sided?
I’ll agree that’d make some sense. But that means it probably wouldn’t happen.
If they scrapped the tolls for the bridge and doubled them for the tunnel, it would cut congestion by half. What they may lose in people going round the other half of the M25 they would gain by not employing x number of people.
The autotolls should be on alternative booths, not just the right hand side so it would even out the traffic.
For now I stick to choosing a line full of artics rather than cars or vans, as they stop once but clear about 4 cars worth of space. I’ll also avoid following a foreigner through.
But most of the regular foreigners have got dart tags,
I struggle with the white van man and scaffolders who seem to be shocked to come across the toll booths, even though they probably use the crossing every day.
The tolls should be totally scrapped anyway and if they need to raise some extra revenue, put a toll booth in the Blackwall tunnel and on the A13 near Canary Wharf.
my latest observation of this horrible place is that the new multi million £ a2 link flyover is a complete waste of money whilst the toll booths remain in place.
all it has acheived is to enable those coming from the a2 to the northbound M25 to join the back of the queue quicker and without having to travel around the island to do it.
i tried to take a photo thursday but my view was blocked by another truck, i thought it was really pretty seeing all those cars and trucks sitting on top of the flyover as i passed by on the island.
what an absolute waste of money, i shall be writing to my mp about it.
The problem with the queues in both directions starts at around 5 in the morning. Overnight there are anything from 2 to 4 attended lanes in each direction. They don’t open up all the attended lanes early enough, and so the queues start. With all that revenue coming in, they should open the lanes earlier.
It would be easier to remove the tolls and let the road run , it is paid for now anyway .
But why lose all that money ?
Dont blame the foreigners,Its not them all the time,at least some of em have the sense to go over to the passenger window and pass the money through there.

On MANY occasions it is mostly ■■■■■■■ idiots in cars or vans who dont have any money that hold up the traffic.
could you imagine the carnage in the tunnels and on the bridge if it was a free for all and they scrapped the tolls? at least it breaks the traffic up ffs, i know its a pain in the arse but what can you do.It is ALWAYS gonna be like that you’ll never improve it.
I have spent the last week working outta Thamesport so have had the misfortune of being on the 25 most of the week.I agree with the previous post that the new A2 sliproad is just gonna be a longer queueing lane as it has been since they opened it on Tuesday.

im in a left hand drive and have no dart tag so i have to get out if i use it, i too think the tolls should be scrapped esp over the bridge, i can sort of see the reason for escorts through the tunnel itself, but they need to reduce the congestion urgently there

I thought they were supposed to that with Road Tax 
dartford is privatatley owned as are severn crossing
I drive a lhd with no dart tag.dont think im any slower than anyone else through the booths than the next truck.The main problem i think is MUPPETS with no money or having to look for change at the booths.
