Glad i dont pay for it.

Dartford Bridge was supposed to be free by now… Just another smack in the face from “Bent Britain”.

And because it’s French-owned, every time a truck goes through the tollbooth, the money transfers from the UK economy to the French economy.

On the 13th of September 2009 the contractors of the Dartford River Crossing (Le Crossing) changed to Connect Plus M25, which again is made up of a consortium of Atkins, Egis, Skanska, and Balfour Beatty.

I am not sure but I believe the Highways agency own in now or there staff operate it my mate works the vehicles on the bridge and he is a HATO … but as said not sure who collects the fares mind, I thought it was supposed to be free back in 2001 once the cost of build was recouped … you need to move to NSW if you think tolls over there are bad over here M5.M4,M7 it is rip of Sydney!

Dartford tolls are nothing more than another tax.

It’s only the users in the area that have to pay this tax, the majority of which goes
back to the Government, and most of this tax doesn’t get spent on roads.

So, I say it’s an unfair tax,as only those in the South East have to pay it.
If there was a viable option not to use the crossing, i’d say fair enough, but there isn’t!

The fact that this tax is applied on a major national route is a scandal in itself, more so that
it delays traffic as well.

Only people from the south east have to pay it?
A heck of a lot of produce comes out of Kent to go all over the country, is it only Kent firms that haul it?
All the traffic heading to/from channel ports? Not many uk trucks now I grant you that, but they are heading to/from all over the country and beyond.

I don’t understand why you southern Jessies don’t take a leaf out the titewad Scottish book lochalsh.co.uk/skye_bridge.shtml

I bet the Frenchies wouldn’t stand for it

I dont think the government would sell this wonderful money spinner, what they do is lease it to the highest bidder, the french leased it before, now its a consortium of mostly british companies, so at least when you cross it, you are helping to pay my pension, and i thank you all for that
If you possibly could, i would ask you to purchase a return, as that could very well give me an increase, as the price of a beer here in bulgaria has gone up by 2 stotinki a barrel, mind you the rakia is still the same price…

I used the Humber Bridge today, the toll was £12, when I last used it (2011) it was over £18.Why can’t the other bridge authorities do the same??

Its a bottleneck that must cost more to the economy than it produces.

Absolutely spot on, a shame the boneheads in power don’t see that, or are trying to use the congestion around the SE as an excuse to stimulate the economy in other parts of the UK
