Shut yer bloody windows man! I must’ve been following you and it blew out into my cab too!

I’d heard the preview a couple of times, that was enough for me.

May god bless all those families spending christmas apart.

Me too, I was in floods.

Heard it every year for the last 12yrs, still gets me, especially as my mate has been in the army for the last 19 years and done 5 tours of Iraq, 3 tours of Afgan and a few NI’s, always nice to get a phone call for my birthday and around xmas, let’s me know he’s still alive.

Some of the stories though, waking up on the floor because mortars are that close that you get knocked out of bed - but still don’t wake up because you’re that used to it

I’m not keen on the ‘phone calls’ between the wife and husbands though, with the delay and people listening, it’s bloody crap for us as the listener and for them on the line, and then Jeremy trying to get things going by ‘But it sounds like you’re doing ok??’ even though that’s always the 1st thing that’s ever said :unamused:

If anyone’s spoken to anyone over there over the satalite phone, the delay makes it bloody awkward, you start repeating stuff and then their reply is coming through and it’s just bloody horrible

Got me to!

When the 1st mum started reading a letter for her son and started crying, that was me crying.
Come home safe boys and girls.

It goes without saying! Keep safe out there lads/lasses and come home safe for your families.

God Bless em all and keep em safe…We should be proud of everyone of em …

Yeah the same as soon as that lady started talking. I have no kids but could never imagine how must feel missing out on births, birthdays, first Christmas’s really hits home how lucky iam to have my family around even tho they do my head in most days !!!

Keep safe boys and girls

Big tough truckers my ar**.
I have a nephew out in Afghanistan at the moment too… lets just take time to think of them while we enjoy xmas.
I’ve got dirt in my eyes now too…

Yup…whatever was floating about found its way in to my cab aswell.

I always gets smoke in my eyes at Noel Edmonds Xmas Box

i didnt catch the jeremy vine show yesterday, but listened to greg james on radio 1 last week when he spent the week in afghan.
Every nite, they had a different celeb back home who would read out messages from loved ones. that wrenched me a few times!

Ever since the iraq and afghe]an campaigns started, ive always had undevoted admiration for those serving, having lost a couple of m8s there made it more so.

At one point, i even contemplated joining the reserves or marines but i havent got half of the cohonies that all of these men and women have got!

GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND MERRY XMAS, arrive home safe!!!

and we all moan about traffic, rdc’s etc.
perspective eh :grimacing:

And Jeremy Vine normally… :unamused:

Pete.

I listen to radio 2 nost of the day here through the Tunein app on my droid which is conected to the radio in my truck. I switch off when that Vine git comes on then back on for Steve Wright in the afternoon (in the morning by the way LOL).

i held it together unlike last yr when he had the mums of fallen soldiers on talking about there love of music and such and the moment they was told the news that there child will not be coming home :frowning: thought it was a great series and the parents were brave to do it but my good i cried like a baby

Was that the one last year where a mother who lost her son sat in his car to listen to his music? Must have driven through a dust cloud as I was listening to that. As an earlier poster said … it puts things in to perspective

Totally agree with Waynedle, really feel uncomfortable with the phone calls .
It’s great that they get to talk to each other BUT it’s like they need to perform for us !
And vine goes on a bit with them "just yous talk yourselfs ignore me " and ex amount of million listeners !
I listen every year and it always gets me but like I say the calls are a bit weird in my books ,
God bless all out there in ANY foreign country but ESP war zones . Come back safely .
