If it doesn’t make it to the tip then it’s not a waste is it ■■
It’s simply cost efficient recycling
Well if they leave it on its side like that it’s gonna pour away anyway!

When I was on safeway, the stores used to give it all away to the local vagrants. Until one got food poisoning from an off prawn sarnie. Cost safeway enough to send him to fairyland for a whole month. The stuff had to be chucked after that, although people used to scale the walls and rob the bins at most shops
I was having a good day until I read this thread. All that delicious fun juice going down the drain
I’ve had an idea…how about posting the pic and address of rdc anonymously on a local University forum/face book page?
Rule of thumb
If its glass because its dropped its binned due to slithers of glass potentially present in the goods’
Cans can and have been known to explode due to being weakened or damaged or even to out of date.
we use to collect damaged bottles from Harvey’s Bristol, The damaged bottles were sorted re-labelled and packed damaged by a single bottle being damaged ie the top causing liquid damage. anything dropped was broken binned ie the bottle broken so the liquid drained and the glass for recycling .
I use to work for a beers and wine wholesalers and all the damages were gotten rid of after the office lot went home on a Friday
i once went to the old somerfield rdc at wigan and there was an old bloke sat by a skip with a huge stack of cases of wine . he wasn’t allowed to just chuck them in the skip , he had to smash each bottle before it went in the skip . i don’t think it all got smashed as he was ■■■■■■ as a ■■■■ when i spoke to him .
It’s heart breaking and can bring a grown man to tears…
I’ve worked on drays for over 13 years now and the amount of beer I’ve had to pour or throw away is unreal. I once had to stand for a whole day with a bottle opener and empty 2 full pallets of mixed beers/ciders down the drain… was a very sad day
Of course some never made it down the drain and was recycled internally…lol
