How you steer if Engine goes out :bulb:

Eco-roll as DAF like to call it works to strict parameters ,when it engages Neutral it will only do so when these parameters are met ,if when in Eco -roll it starts to build up to much speed it will re-engage the gear ,it won’t let you just keep rolling building up speed…

I dare say you would steer it the same way you would steer your car or any truck or bus where the engines cut out.with a lot of effort…

Think you need to read the drivers handbook as you do not understand how it works ,and you can switch it off if you don’t like it

You sure dont re-engage a Gear on a standing Engine when Vehicle moves.
i had a few Times Engine going out.
Ignition Lock faulty and Engine off when pushed Clutch to shift back on approaching Peage in France.
Faulty Injector Pump twice. Once on M20 and once near Kufstein
Diesel Filter frozen in Luxembourg
Twice on a DAF CF with faulty Tank which didn;t gave me the last 100 Liter.

Hill-down the weight pushes and Engine runs till you disconnect Gearbox from Engine.
And,after a few Year Brake may be weaker on a Front Wheel then on the other.

Here a few links why not doing so is recommended.

You don’t get eco-roll on a manual DAF

If you are now talking about your engine just cutting out ,I suggest you get it in for repair…

Eco -roll and the versions used by other manufacturers is perfectly legal,How else have they got it into production if it wasn’t deemed safe …Yes it goes against everything we are ever taught about coasting ,but there you go,but things change. If it builds up too much speed then it re-engages the gear,so no need for any braking system application

Yes you can! Its called Aberdonian Overdrive![emoji6] [emoji12]

So it automatically disengages and re-engages drive?

Yup. Feels like dipping the clutch in a manual, but actually knocks it into neutral. As has been said it feels unnatural, but I’m sure that the first people who abandoned sails for steam power felt the same.

When I was out in our Demo the eco-roll was so smooth and seemless I never actually felt or noticed it operate …It was only when I looked at the dash and saw it was in neutral that I realised

Wait till October I think it is when adaptive cruise control ,lane departure warning ,becomes law and will be fitted as standard :unamused: :unamused: More to go wrong

Will this junk be fitted to new cars and vans too? :unamused:
ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  me off all this crap that vehicles have to have and it makes your life no better. It joins the list of Adblue, cycle proximity sensors, and tipper underrun bars as pointless crap I don’t want when I get a new wagon.

I don’t know about cars vans etc …but I do agree about all he extra crap…I like them basic,a simple CF85 4x2,only extra would be a bit of catwalk to stand on
