Daf xf cab mount removal

we gonna have a go at changing these on our 05 plate superspace,can anyone talk me through it …we have the crane to suspend the cab while we remove the bushes but how do these come apart?

cheers

I don’t know, but I’m really looking forward to reading the replies from people who do, because I’ve had a few XFs as an employee and they all seem to develop “banging cab syndrome”, so I’ve always wondered how to fix it in case I ever get one. I have been given a brief explanation but he didn’t mention craning off the cab.

I’m told the cab ram rubbers also need doing at the same time?

both headlamp panels off, lower grille off

it makes it easier to get to them

do one side at a time

take the grease ■■■■■■ out of the end of the cab mount

screw in a slide hammer in to the grease ■■■■■■ hole and pull out the end cap, it is a compression fit

on the underside of the cab mount housing, there is a locating bolt, 13mm spanner, remove the bolt

support the cab by what ever means you have got

screw the slide hammer in to the end of the cab mount pin and extract

replacement is the reverse of the removal, make sure you get the locating hole in the right place when you refit the cab mount pin

it is the same procedure if you need to change the cab air bag, as the cab mount pin goes through the top position if the air bag, and the bottom of the air bag is secured by a large nut on a threaded bar that sticks out of the bottom of it

hope this helps

cheers shuttlespanker i know what im looking at now cheers for your help

Yea ta, it’s one of those posts that won’t help me next week but that I may remember and search for some years down the line when I have the job to do…

i bought a complete bar with knackered mounts on from the breakers then replaced them with new ones at my leisure, when it came to replacing them on my truck it was just a matter of suspending the cab and swapping the bars over {if that makes sense}
