My DAF XF 95, 2005 is showing alternator & engine warning lights on the dash. This occurred after the batteries had gone flat and the lads used a booster to start it. I hear from of the mechanics I know that the boosting may have killed the alternator. However the truck is able to start after turning it off. I am a novice so don’t really know if it is a dead alternator or something else. Any ideas?
Check the fan/alternator belt first.

This happened to me on the way to spain many years ago. It started but had warnings on the dash and it turned out to be the alternator. Very embarrassing time a payage not being able to move when it finally have up the ghost. Even the windows wouldn’t work !
check too see the fan belt is still there, if not then firstly check the alternator is turning as they sometime seize, next check the pulley tensioner hasn’t lost it’s tension, next check the water pump hasn’t seized, check too see if you can turn the easily (if not then the fan hub may have seized). chances are it’s just the brushes that have seen their life
