Thinking of putting my old cb in my xf, can anyone tell me if there are any electrical connections available in the space above the digi tacho above the drivers head ? Also with a mirror mount whats the best way to feed the cable into that space ? Many thanks
If you want it done without any problems, go and see Anthony at the Fleece. He does a professional job and doesn’t charge a lot to do it. He well qualified
Been told I can’t use my signature by some elitist ■■■■■■
Xf pre wired for cb open that panel and feel around you will locate the ariel wire on the left and there will be a small white 2 connection unused plug that is 12v the ariel on the back is cb ariel one at front is radio unless its ssc then ariel for radio is taped onto inside of pod hth
Brilliant, many thanks
As with the above post it’s all in there ready to connect up.
In my 11 plate ssc the coax from the ariel already had the BNC connector fitted so it was easy enough to identify.
The 12v power lead you are looking for is coloured red/white which is standard DAF coding for 12V. This feed is a permanent live so it’s best to use spade connectors on the end of CB lead therefore leaving the connector in place so that if you remove the CB there isn’t a live 12V feed floating around in the locker.
The daf ariel is ok but bear in mind that it sits lower down and generally it will be between the unit and trailer so performance won’t be sparking but should be good for a few miles if set up correctly. Also in the two I’ve had they come SWRd for midband (euro) so will need a tweak to get then working across the band on UK frequencies.
Cheers
Neilf
Once again, many thanks

Is the ‘DV’ mount on the rear of the cab properly earthed to the cab chassis as its as much use as ■■■■ on a bull if not?
Bloody hell, I’m all CB’d up all of a sudden.

Hoping I can find the same wiring connector as described here in my unit ('62 xf105). I really don’t want to have the power to my cb coming from the cig lighter.
Here’s what I’ve found so far:

Get a hold of one of these voltage testers, shows you what each wire is. Live permanent or off with the ignition. Its not rocket science.

Yes, you’ve got it in one. That’s not even a DAF XF, it’s a Morris Traveller.
