If you had a choice between the above; which would choose?
Volvo for the drive…DAF to live in…HTH
Well I’ve never really had anything to do with DAF, but it would take a bloody good truck to get me out of my Volvo without grumbling!!
Volvo, if you aren’t paying the premium for it over the DAF. Both good trucks though, not much in it really.

I love the Volvo electric hand brake now that I read the drivers manual after a few surprises let’s say.
The Volvo is as always a beautiful soft and smooth drive and very pleasant to live in. However the batteries will die in no time if tramping and running a/c or night heater unless you run the engine a bit when parked for more than 12 hours.
I have no experience of a modern DAF but if buying new the depreciation will will hurt a lot more as Silver said

Quite flimsy is that handbrake on the Volvo if you’re heavy handed. If it doesn’t always engage when you wish to put the handbrake on then just turn of the ignition and the handbrake comes on automatically
DAF cab on a Volvo chassis.
I have not had a volvo since I had a L reg version 1 FH and that was a very nice truck I have had Daf ever since, for me I would go for the Daf for the reliability and dealer back which on both accounts I have been very lucky with I agree with the depreciation issue but if you keep them as long as I do it’s not a problem

This
I have driven both more room and comfort in the Daf but the Volvo engine and gearbox are far superior
If only Daf could straighten out the dashboard eg Man and get the steering wheel out of the way eg Volvo. To be honest don’t care too much about engines and gearboxes -all about a muchness if the bhp is the same -more concerned about living environment so something German every time. Contentious moi?
Having driven dafs for the last 4 years and now being in a Volvo , the Volvo wins hands down for driving comfort yes the daf has a bit more cab space but as most of what we do is driving the Volvo.
DAF is a good lorry but I do love Volvos.
XF cab is amazing really it’s a 30 year old basic design that’s just had a few ‘extensions’ over the years and still leads the others on use of space.
Volvo every day, I drive a 480 daf and its pants
