DAF Stereos

Does my head in!
Generally i drive 1of3 18t DAFs that are all around 2015.
Have the radio on, turn it down when i leave the vehicle.
Then when i get back in the bloody things start up at full volume!
Besides making me jump out of my skin, it bloody annoying.
Any tips to stop this would be appreciated.

Thanks Rich

Scroll through menu and check traffic alert volume

Get a Mercedes, they do the opposite!

Sorry, not helpful I know, but counters all the Mercedes bashing on here and makes me feel better that minor annoyances I have could be much worse, by driving a DAF. Hope you get it resolved.

The DAF stereos have adaptive volume, the idea being the faster the lorry goes the more it turns it up to compensate for the noise. I forget what menu it’s in as the only time we have them is on hire vehicles but it’s definitely in there.

Thanks for your replies everyone.
The head units are very basic and suprised they have any settings beyond volume and channel settings.

Bloody thing did it again after i started this thread earlier.

Pulled up in the yard and switched off. Sat putting all my belongings back in my bag as id finnished for the day.
Switched the ignition on to get the mileage for my paperwork and BANG, full volume! Made me jump again!
Ill check for settings and maybe i should switch it off before switching off the ign from now on.
A wierd characteristic.

Thanks again.

Small tip: you can check the mileage on the tacho, no need for ignition/keys. But it’s always in km only

Daf Radios have an “on vol” setting from memory. The basic standard fit radio. Press the Menu button and scroll through the menu by keep pressing the menu button I think, and you should see something like on vol and then adjust it, using either the up down or left right buttons.

Have not driven a DAF for quite some time so it will be something like that.

I’ve been told in the past to only ever refer to the tacho when taking a mileage reading, but you also need the ignition on for the tacho backlight.

stu675:
but you also need the ignition on for the tacho backlight.

No - press any button and the backlight comes on.
