Daf LF45 Indicators all permanently on

Hi,

I have an LF45.170 Euro-3 53-plate with the indicators all stuck permanently on. All the other lights work fine - if I use the indicator stalk switch, I get the proper dash-lights and audible ticking sound, but the indicators themselves stay permanently on.

The dash display is currently warning about low air pressure and an ABS fault, but everything else is working fine. There are no faults logged that I can read with the diagnostic tool I’ve got (not even the two on the dash display!), but it’s not a particularly good one (I’m surprised it connected at all, to be honest). I’ve gone through the wiring diagrams and it looks like the indicator switch feeds directly into the VIC and the indicators themselves are fed directly by the VIC, so I guess whatever’s wrong is inside the VIC.

Has anybody ever encountered this or, better still, fixed it? Could a bad connection/short at (or on the way to) one of the indicators cause this? Any help or advice will be gratefully received.

Thanks.

Have you swapped the relay? Or flasher unit as they’re sometimes called. Just a suggestion. Electrics were always black magic to me :man_facepalming:

Thanks for your reply!
Unfortunately, there isn’t one. The switch goes direct to the VIC (a sort of “does everything” ECU) and all the indicators come directly from the VIC. Presumably, there are power transistors of some sort inside it, to handle the higher currents.
Everything else (apart from the ABS and whichever air pressure sensor is having issues) is working, so the VIC’s obviously not dead…its just confused. I’ve got both rear light clusters disconnected at the moment, so it might be that… who knows?
