Daf lf 280 sleeper cab?

can I ask work has decided to get rid of my trusty old 16t daf cf and replace it with a16/18t 57 reg curtan sided daf lf euro6 280.
my question is the bed in the back is so small have to keep lifted up when driving theres practially no under bed storage in fact hardly anyroom at all.
is this wagon desgined for tramping in ie 2 3 nights out a week? or is it desgined for emergince nights out not desgined from tramping?
id like your views as cant see me being comfy or even coping in it to be honest . what the hell you playing at daf if it is designed for tramping around in

your firm being cheap skates , and the DAF lf is just to small to be a practical sleeper
should have got a MAN TGM sleeper even the 18t cabbed one has plenty of room in it to tramp

your right there on cheap skates . I had a 63reg daf cf still running strong well built could stand up in there had loads room to move stretch out . god knows why got rid . this thing seems plastic and cheap. and cant belive manafactures are then able to sell wagons with no space surley there should be legislation minimum size space etc as its practailly my home mon to fri

The DAF LF is more suited to urban distribution by the look of it with its low step entry ect.
Ive never driven or seen one inside close up but the cab is very short looking and can imagine the bunk can only be very narrow. Low chassis weight will give a higher payload, maybe thats what your company has in mind rather than driver comfort. At 280hp its not going to be short on power…

Scroll down to page 25 for details of current cab. Not exactly “spacious” I`m afraid.

that’s 17cm narrower than an Actros or 11cm than TGL
and 28cm shorter than TGL :open_mouth:

I’m thinking is it definitely a LF and not a CF, and is it a 67 reg not a 57 if it s a Euro 6.

I had a cf 63reg roomy comfy well built going strong as ever. this thing I have now is an lf euro 6 I think 280 67reg just no space to swing a cat

Missed that in the Op’s description. Euro 6 has to be 2014 onwards…

I only did a couple of nights out in an LF sleeper, they’re hopeless. As you say, you have to raise the bunk when not in use, and given the limited amount of space in the cab it’s a royal PITA, especially I should think if you’re of a “larger build”. Wouldn’t want to do more than one night out a week in one of them.

CF on the other hand ain’t a bad cab at all, even in “low-top” mode. Found the bed to be very comfy.

Its not the end of the world as it will spend a fair bit of time in the workshop having egr valves and coolers replaced, various coolant hose leaks cured, coolant system pressurising problems diagnosed, and as for the performance flatter than a fresh steamy runny turd.
Then theres the variosu engine warnings to illuminate your day and stop you getting bored!

I can remember the first time I drove one and was looking forward to it as the CF/XF Euro 6 were crackers, oh the dissapointment :open_mouth:

The chinese made ■■■■■■■ has real potential but is really strangled by the emissions kit.

Depending on other aspects of the job, I would be having some “full and frank” discussions with my boss about doing nights out regularly in that vehicle. If I had no joy, I may start looking around for another job.
If its an otherwise good job, maybe stay, if this is an average job on average pay, they see what else is around?? I wouldnt leave a good job for a shinier truck, but a below standard cab would have me examining my options.

Pays okish 9 hr time half after 45hrs get stopped 1 hr a day for break . For class 2 not bad. Company can’t organise p### up in brewery 2 blokes sat in cosy office all day. Unless anyone knows similar paying c2 jobs around Manchester. Jobs we get etc all easy jobs easy compared to most just companies tinpot never know where your upto

Its not the engine, its the gearbox. Our 64 plates go like hell, nobody wants to drive anything newer because they’re as flat as a ■■■■ and change up to 12th gear at 40MPH and below 1000RPM even though you’re climbing a hill but pop out of eco auto mode and into manual and they go just as well as the 64 plates. We had a 67 plate 680 BHP one on demo and that was terrible so it went back to DAF, they reprogrammed the gearbox and the difference was like night and day.

If it was me, and a company supplied a vehicle not suitable for the drivers purpose, i would either be leaving, or tell them i aint doing tramping in that heap of ■■■■■■ or tell em to send it back and get a bigger cab.
