or have you heard about them theve quoted me to rebuild my engine for the daf CF 75 360 — PE 9200 thanks for your help
how much have they quoted you?
Why are you having an engine rebuild…have you been using synthetic engine oil and carbonisation has destroyed your engine…seems to be a prob with DAF’s
but others have had the same prob…just asking!

I don’t know where you get your information from ,but someone is feeding you ■■■■.DAF engines are not being destroyed by synthetic oils as your scaremongering suggests…There was a issue with early MXengines using oil ,which has been rectified with modified pistons ,liners, with an anti polishing ring…Have never seen a destroyed engine…Op has a euro 3 engine which runs on mineral oil…Best you stick to driving trucks and stay away from old wives tales
hey - £2500 - £3000 + vat + collection and delivery depending on what is wrong with it - I only got the truck in april second hand from utranazz its had a multitude of problems its one of those crappy trucks that cost the earth to buy and cost the earth to run because it was abused by the first owners, within a month the clutch airpack went - the airdryer was shot and the middle brakes were non existant - it came with a new mot lol the middle axle brakes were down to the rivits and had damaged the drums - my workshops phoned utranazz and told them about these problems and they paid straight away parts and labour - strange that - but since then i have uncovered problem upon problem and i havent bothered whining at them about all these problems but when the engine blew i had to call them - i have owned the truck for 8 months now and they didnt give a f**k- i told them the engine had blown and was told that they did me a favour an helped me out when the first problems ie the air dryer, brakes and clutch pack - nice - wont be going there again
you cant expect to buy second hand and still get something 8 months down the line
Norb seen several engines destroyed by synthetic,I owned them.

from this, i take it, it is an auto box?
if it is, the compressor/air dryer will have screwed the clutch actuator
i had an engine in a 95XF that started using 3 gallons of oil per week
it was cheaper to get a second hand engine from Barry Grewcock than it was to rebuild the original engine, plus, there was no saying that rebuilding the original engine would have cured the problem with it, as there was no visible signs of why it was doing it
the price you have been quoted, it will still be cheaper to get a good replacement from them
grewcocks mucked me about mate - told me they had one for my truck - quoted me i accepted i arranged to go an see the engine running the next day but then at the last minuet they phoned me to tell me they were not prepared to sell me the engine anymore as the compressor was taken off the engine so they could not start it up - a whole day wasted on that im afraid - and my garage has said that the engine in mine had at one stage ( not while i have owned it ) been run extremly low on oil an that had damaged the scraper rings in two of the liners

never seen one in 18 years on DAF …They have on used synthetic since EURO 4 and as i said earlier only issue has been oil consumption on the earlier MX

Norb, can you use fully synthetic oil 10w40 low saps in the engine on a DAF XF95 euro3?
will it cause any problems?
shuttle spanker ,i have never known anyone use syn on euro 3 ,probably due to the pence per litre cost of it ,but it’ll get back to you on wether you can or not
Only info i have of oils at the momemnt is for thr XF95 fitted with the XE engine
DAF Extreme LD 10W40
It may be used ,with standard and extended oil drains…if going for extended oil drains, oil and fuel filters with a greater filtering capacity need to be fitted along with a centrifugal filter
Same applies for DAF Extreme 5W30
If you have a 390 KW engine then extended oil drains are not permitted
I think but may be wrong but sap is usually for high performance engines so as far as i know it isn’t on DAFs oil list
sorry about that
the reason i asked was, i also have 2 MAN TGA’s which require fully synthetic 10w40 low saps
was looking at having all on the same oil to make it easier for storage as i was running the DAF on 15w40 semi synthetic
IIRC, the handbook says you can have fully or partially synthetic oil of the different grades
You may get a better answer from the DAF parts dept, as in the exact grade of oil they sell.Or ask who their supplier is and contact him ,he will tell you if it is saps …I fusch are one supplier who would know .I just pull the 10w40 hose from the wall and put it in the MX LOL…But i see your point in keeping as much as possible the same ,and i can’t find anything on theexact make up of the oil DAF use …sorry
I have been told by my oil supplier that low saps will be ok in a Renault which is SCR.
Pursy
Low saps oil is ok in any engine, but is needed if you have particle filters.
It has nothing to do with high performance engines, it just does not mess up the filter, or catalytic converter.
