Hi all on satd I had a new gear-lever mount fitted as the old one felt really worn - Monday got her back and all was well but today went to put her in reverse and realised the lever was moving up and down - she changed gear really smoothly but the lever is able to move up and down freely from the top “bulge” above the mount and the clamp at the bottom - any ideas guys - is there some sort of clip missing thanks - lee

O dear trouble with a bulge, and moving up and down, I await a better response from the expert… Calling dipper Dave.
bearing has either collapsed or if a new one was fitted ,it wasn’t done properly
Hi guys I rang daf today to tell them and was told they usually loctite them in place does that sound right
Picked up the wrong tube and used locloose instead.
When My outer white plastic collapsed ,I did a day with bungees holding the stick up and it was quite a nice change actually, when I fitted the new one I put a spot of weld on the stick to the inner steel knuckle joint to stop movement although some use lock tight .

Yep that is right ,though if you centre dab the shaft a few times beforehand it will help it get a grip

Used to do the same with Morris Marinas in the seventies a truly awful car !
Ive got a spare assembly now ,if I’d known how long they last with lift in I’d have changed it sooner , I’ve known of drivers that couldn’t carry on once the stick drops .

My Mrs used a mates old Ford Falcon with a 5 sped box. Stick came right out of the box. Turned out they were famous for it.
