killer100:
I moved jobs last week and ive got a daf cf its no high roof just a normal one, is it right that i can only do 2 nights out a week in it, reason being that i cannot stand up in it? according to my mate it is, but any input from you guys would be much appreciated.
thanks
steve
I was involved in a truckstop conversation at the tail end of last year, one of the guys there was a union man from up newcastle way, he said there is a rules in place that say if you average 3 or more nights out a week then you must have a cab that allows you to stand up with head clearance. He also said that exeptions are allowed if the vehicle does’nt allow a high cab,ie car tranporters.
I dont know if what the guy said was correct but he did seem like a genuine guy.

I actually like the CF cab, at least the “Mark 2” version. Comfy bunk, loads of under-bunk stowage and the best seats in any medium-sized truck. Good dash layout and controls too.
I did 2 nights out in mine last week
it’s a mark 1 version, with added under bunk storage - it was fine !!
I’m afraid there is no such regulation!
But hey, we’re all ■■■■■■■■ truck drivers right? who needs a nice big soft bed to sleep on?
erm…me please!
Alex
respect… but ■■■■■■■■ truck drivers ■■?
duvets, electric blankets, night heaters, microwaves, laptops, tv’s dvd’s the list goes on. 20 years ago we might have been ■■■■■■■■ but not now.

I see Coffeeholic is staying very quiet on this one. I can see him rocking in his chair, banging his head on the monitor thinking …how many more times
No much space in the old CF is there. We’ve got one here and it feels like you’re driving a big van rather than a lorry. Just couldn’t get a comfy driving position in the seat and also that bloody black line round the outside of the window in the window went right through the middle of the mirror meaning i had a less than perfect rear view.
Just been offered the nightshift job beside us but said no because it would have meant driving the CF permanently
i’d sooner have the cf than the volvo fm7 i’m currently doing 3 - 4 nights out in, At the end off the day doesn;t matter about the size so long as the pennies are good.

Just ask your boss nicely, I’m sure there is a super space cab with your name on it somewhere
There is!!!
I asked my boss the other week if i could have an upgrade to a Super Space Cab and he said yes, no problem. I will be getting it the first week of April
Well i do drive one of those DAF LF 45 sleepers and have nights out in it as well and yes it is a pain with putting the seats forward and we get a new fleet this year and yes you guessed it we are getting new DAF LF’s life goes on…
by law all sleeper cab,s should be large enough to have a small toilet ,a shower and an area to store an exersise machine and to top it off a small bar with soft drinks,an area to entertain would allso be nice
I dream of a DAF coz they’ve got comfy beds, I’ve got a P420 scanny car transporter so no head room and a bunk made out of god knows what, seriously whoever designed scanny bunks was a sadist, they’re the worse beds ever invented

Not far wrong. I still can’t fathom how people fall for this crap. They would either be legal or illegal to spend a night out in. Being legal for a certain number of nights in a row is just ridiculous.
Not in my experience; for a truck from the modern era that honour oddly enough goes to the old (Roadrunner) Daf 45. I have spent nights on softer park benches than the bunk and seats in those. Only advantage over the new 45/55 cab is that the bunk stays down.
what on earth is wrong with the swear filter? I have tried to use the past tense of the verb “to sleep” and it mods me!
On the rare occasions I’ve been unfortunate enough to sleep in an old DAF 45 I’ve been sure to take an airbed with me!
The bed in my 07 Renault Premium is comfy as hell.
Don’t know how you lot hate the Renault…I was 43t today and I slaughterd a Volvo FH12 420 on a hill on the A1 north bound hehe. Mind you I do have an extra 30 hp to exploit
bbez:
I liked my CF when i was trunking, wicked main beam on it, drove like it was on rails and it went like !^*
iam with bbez on this one and get this! ours were day cabs, but they did have nightheaters fitted. they are very reliable but are now being replaced with axors
