Hi guys.Im looking for some advice before I start the repairs.Ive got a bearing and seal to replace on daf 8 wheeler tipper. Its the 3rd axle output bearing.ive done the input ones before but never the output one only replaced seals in that one.i was hoping someone could tell me if it can be done without removing diff. Thanks for any advice in advance.
It should be a relatively straight forward job ,un-do nut & remove flange ,remove the seal ,there should be a circlip in front of the bearing ,remove circlip…The shaft will come out with the bearing ,it’ a short shaft and is splined like a 1/2 shaft, how difficult the bearing is to remove may be another story…Best of luck

Friendly garage with a decent press ?
No not at all peter ,airgun to undo the flange nut, puller to possibly pull the flange off, remove seal ,remove circlip…may need a puller of sorts to remove bearing ,which will bring the quill shaft with it …The DAF manual does not mention needing a press for that particular job
so it should be reasonably straight forward …But like we all know there can be issues ,wether it being the nut not undoing
Norb, I have sent you a PM!!

Yeah I know what you’re saying, but how many times doe’s a relatively simple job turn to the proverbial.
more than I care to remember
,though I have pointed out what may become a problem …depending how tight the bearing is on the shaft ,a hob will heat the bearing up enough to install it
