seriously, they do not have the head bolt/gasket problems that the XF95 had

some of the early ones were very porous and using quite a lot of oil, but, i believe this has been sorted on most of them

if the turbo fails, it will generally start filling the cylinders with oil, starting with number 6, they have now put in an oil sensor in part of it that should never have oil there, if it sniffs the oil, it will put a warning up on the dash, if it comes up STOP immediately!!!

a lot of the older ones have been retro fitted with the sensor, check with the dealer if this has been done, also, check with the dealer if there are any outstanding recalls that need doing

if they need doing, they are free to the operator, just have to take the truck in to the dealer for them to be done

Just to correct a couple of points from shuttlespanker if i may
1.MX engine was never porous ,engine oil consumption was down to cylinder bore polishing .New liners with an anti polishing ring where fitted along with new pistons
2…Ref the turbo ,no switch was ever fitted ,it was a basic software update ,easily checked with XDc to see if it was carried out .Software was changed to put a RED warning on as soon as an irregular drop in boost pressure was sensed …
