Anyone got a manual XF 105 that has started crunching into 2nd and 5th gear, it’s a 64 plate and only just started doing it.I am having to double declutch to avoid a hell of a crunch, it can be embarrassing in slow traffic, would it be the synchromesh on that gear pinion or a full out gearbox job, (says he that knows ■■■■ about gearboxes)

How many km on it? No gearbox oil leaks ?

Clearly shouldn`t be happening at that kilometrage. Have you dropped the oil to check for metal filings? Check quantity/quality at the same time of course. I had one vehicle (not a truck) where a totally unsuitable grade of oil was put in the gearbox. Wrecked it. If no luck either get the spanners out, or treat it as a crash box. Slightly longer changes but a lot cheaper!
EDIT: would using it as a crash box would then make it a Grand Dad box?
