DAB Radio

Probably been done before and tin hat on if it has but do many of you use DAB, I do but am thinking of getting a Pure Highway hopefully for better reception , are they any good  as you dont here much about them and the stations on their are far better than FM and my radios on it’s last legs :frowning:

in my opinion FM sounds better than DAB
for me only extra channels worth listenening to
BBC World service Arrow Rock Planet Rock

I listen to radio 7 on DAB sound is very good it’s varied talk, comedy drama etc. Have a look at this link for a write up of the device.

Sorry it’s a bit long, not very good at this bit yet.

You don’t hear much about them because they’re crap. Poor national coverage and in low signal areas, unlike FM you either receive it or you don’t. Add into that a far poorer sound quality and there’s nothing going for it.

Don’t forget you’ll need a new antenna.

I spent £180 on a DAB tuner 2 years ago to add onto my home HiFi, and like the above poster, only Arrow radio is worth listening to. There was then, about 25 radio station in the Manchester area to listen to, and now there is about half that. The reception is tempremental, and at times is very poor. Been a waste of money Im afraid.

I have a pure highway and was well worth the money. reception can be patchy but its fine a lot of the time. be careful sticking the ariel to the windscreen, wont come off in on piece once stuck on. Its great being able to listen to BBC 6music on the go.

I’ve had a jvc dab now for about 2 years, wouldn’t want to be without it.

Listen to bbc world,bbc7,5 live, the arrow and planet rock among others.

Okay reception is rubbish in some areas but I can live with that.

I’ve had one since they came out and think its brilliant.
Just stick the aerial onto your windscreen, plug in and find a spare fm channel and away you go.
I ,use mine all day every day and would not be without it. It also has an input socket so that you can send your ipod signal through it as well.
i mainly listen to 5live,radio4,bbc7 and world service and talksport.
There are a few places where the signal is not as good but after a while you will know where they are and just use FM for half an hour.

I got one for christmas as soon as i’d put in my motor I got moved in newer truck. As you say peeling ariel of windscreen knakered it!! Can I get replacement?

I bought a Sony DAB radio/stereo for my and the sound is excellent there are a few duff areas but this one has an FM-link on it which switches FM if there`s an FM equivalent station eg:- Radio 1…2…4 etc.

Talk radio stations are far clearer but you must make sure you have a good ariel contact.

If you still have the box and paperwork it came with if you look on the questionnaire you can order a magnetic roof mounted ariel for £19.99. I’m going to get one myself, looks like a much better option.

forgot about BEEBs 5live,5 live xtra,6,7 and Asian babes
would listen to 7 but not the others

talksport and 5 would sound better on DAB than MediaWaffle
