Hi all.
just wondering if anyone has procured an external ariel for a dab Pure Highway radio?I bought one a couple of years ago and had issues with the internal windscreen ariel which is pretty rubbish in finding dab frequencies for long enough while on the move, but I understand you can get an ariel that sits magnetically on the truck roof which they claim requires no drilling of holes. How does that work!! Any input most welcome.
It’s magnetic and it’s very good
Yes you can get a mag mount aerial from the PURE web site.

Yep I have ordered one but presumably theres a lead from radio to aerial which feeds into the cab somewhere, how can that be possible without drilling a hole in the roof good yeoman■■?
stick it through the window!
Just run it through the sunroof. Been thinking about one of these pure highway jobbies, are they any good.

Excellent but the aerial leaves a lot to be desired, their website suggests no drilling needed but if it’s fed thru the window or sunroof as suggested here, then thats far from ideal, aquatic ingress, etc…still scratchin mi head with this.
Now that prick Evans bestrides the airwaves an escape to dab land is crucial to me now.
To put ariel on roof open door put ariel on roof close door no need to muck about with windows or sunroofs
thats how i do mine all the time never had any trouble with the lead breaking or fraying.
Good station to listen to is planet rock it rocks
ARE THEY ANY GOOD? BEST THING I BOUGHT FOR THE LORRY EVEN GOT A MP3 SOCKET BUILT IN
I love mine. I’d be lost without 6Music

So why cant it be seen in your video dairy ?
I’ve been looking to purchase a DAB radio for the cab and I have a couple of questions…
- Doesn’t it defeat the object of listening to the clarity of digital radio, transmitting via FM, on an FM radio?
I would imagine that you connect an MP3 player to the device via a standard 3.5mm > 3.5mm jack plug lead.
- Could you therefore purchase a headphone splitter lead and connect the MP3 player to the device and connect the device to the truck’s radio?
The headphone splitter lead connects to the device, the MP3 player connects to one of the splitter sockets and the 3.5mm > 3.5mm jack plug to the remaining splitter socket whilst the other end plugs into the AUX socket on the truck’s radio. I was wondering because I’ve used FM transmitter’s before and they’re about as useful as the proverbial chocolate fireguard, a direct connection overcomes all this.
Bob
Mine can’t be seen in vids because it’s up by tacho.
I didn’t buy mine for better sound, I bought it for 6Music. I’d say many people buy them because their fans of digital radio stations. I’m too old for Radio 1, too young for Radio 2!
No need to go to those lengths, if you have a socket on your radio you can just buy a lead and plug the DAB straight in.
they are great. I use it to play my IPOD through the truck radio. The signal is very clear if you get good reception, and if your truck radio doesn’t have an aux input, FM transmitter is still pretty good. only downside is that there seem to be more and more small (posibly illegal) stations transmitting on FM, so finding a free frequency can be a problem.
Thanks guys.
After reading this thread and suffering from carp reception in Norfolk I invested in one of these aerials.
I can now listen to DAB all round Norfolk, and presumably further afield too

Did you catch anything while fishing for carp?
