Hi and thanks for any advice offered. Five years ago I finaly passed my C Test and got my licence and digicard but it was basically when the economy went bust so there was no opportunity to use it. I’ve just been sent forms D47P and D4 from DVLC asking me to get a medical and renew my licence.
As I forked out 2k to get a C licence at the time and havn’t managed to earn it back through driving and don’t earn a living in driving at the moment, I’m reluctant to waste money on something I’m not using.
Can I let it lapse on my licence for now and then just fill in the forms and have the medical if I need it in the future or will I have lost my entitelment to drive C for ever? Would it be cheaper to just get it renewed now as having to reapply would be more expensive?

you will not lose your entitlement to drive lgv if you do not renew it. although obviously you cannot drive them until you renew
when and if you wish to renew get a medical done, fill in the form and bobs yer uncle, it will be renewed

do nothing until you want to do something, then do the something that you want to do
the rear of your photocard has the expiry date of each class of vehicle you may drive, unless you renew you may not drive any class which has expired, when you want to drive this class again renew it
hard work this 
don’t forget also you will need to do your 35 hrs of cpc training before you can drive again as well

only if he renews after sept next year , until then he has grandfather rights
