Last time I went to CZ, you had to buy a year’s road tax, even for one trip. Is it still the same and how much is the tax nowadays? I’m going to Bratislava in Slovakia and I’m not sure whether to go through Czech republic or Austria. Any thoughts?
Last time I did CZ I was in a van and if memory serves I bought a week tax.
Am pretty sure that you can get 1 week . 1 month or a year. I do remember that was cash only but they did take euros and not just the local roubles.
I could be wrong this was about 3 years ago.Hope this helps.
try this sitehttp://www.czech.cz–tghis site has
a search button put ROAD TAX in this area and
you will get a information site about the road
TAX AND ITS COSTS;it is cheaper than AUSTRIA
as YOU pay 27cents a kilometer in austria for
the use of the roads.
Cheers Pete, but that site suggests you have to buy a year’s worth which is what has happened to me before in CZ. Looks like I’ll be dusting off the Austrian Go-Box
Harry how often will you be doing the trip as may be it
would work out cheaper with a years ticket ,in the long run
1000km is €270 in AUSTRIA ;;
Harry you need a GO Box now in the CZ and they are very difficult to get on the border, i got mine through DKV, and before the go box i paid 8€ per day road tax ,you could get a 1day, 10 days, 1 month or 1 year ticket
the motorwav out of austria up to Bretislavia is free of charge , on the outskirts of Bretislavia, are signs showing were the boundrys are for the tax free part of the motorway
