Czech HGV Driver

Hi All, I have a good friend in the Czech Republic who drives 8 wheel tipper trucks (please excuse my terminology as I know nothing about trucks!) he would really like to pursue a career in the UK and has asked me to do some investigation into how it would be possible. He has Czech driving licence C & C+E, apparently that lets him drive a truck and a trailer weighing 48 tons on the road. Would he need to take news tests and gain new UK licences or are his Czech licences transferrable to the UK roads? What would be his best course of action?
