Cycling and trucks

mickyblue:
‘…Happy …Plod do sort them out …’

Then maybe Plod ought to consider:

1 Upping the Plod pull rate; it might make my shift go more sweetly to see a lycra-loon being road-side humble instead of cockily/dangerously aloof

2 Getting the profile of offences raised in order to create examples of the perpetrators of bad cycling practise

3 Issuing their Hobby-Bobbies & ‘Bizzies’ in town with tasers

The U K Gov want to spend billions on a new high speed train when they could spend a small portion on building state of the art cycle paths that are separate from vehicles.
Bit like Holland.

Holland is very very boring, and besides…we don`t have enough room for separate cycle paths.
our towns and cities are steeped in history, and are hundreds of years old wheras towns like ajax where only built in the fifties, hence knocking a few buidlings down to create extra space wouldn’t matter much.

Where does the OP get the RING RING bit. Bells on bikes never heard o them for years round here the first you know is when they brush your shoulder on the way past. Eddie.

Modern clean mirrors and attentive driver use and vision would benifit cyclists.
Also not being in a rush and knowing the route would help.
some techy companies are devising some contraptions that should help cyclist and drivers of large vehicles.

This troll has just proved he isn’t a driver, if he was he would know that heated mirrors can make the problem worse not better, and most cyclists are not knocked off if they are viewable in the mirror, it is when they ride or stop below them

Modern mirrors,
volvo and Mercedes excell in this field.
A good clean of the mirror at the start of shift gives a clearer view.
The truck I drive is a D A F and there are 4 mirrors giving a good view of the nearside.
depending on the area urben or countryside ,good mirrors and alert vision driving is a winner.
