Brilliant photos Dave, it’s nice to see one of a DORF again . I haven’t heard from The Plater for a while now but he did ask me to pass on his regards to your Dad.
Now, does anybody know if there were TWO drivers called Ron from Birmingham who were affectionally called Depression . If so, which one worked for L.O.B.O. and which one worked for Birds ?.

Yes there are more, Martin (one of three amigos) has more, my Dad has more (especially of his time with Harrison International). Somewhere there are others going way back to Bird’s in the early 1970’s, RK Crisp LOBO, more CVH and others I’ve no doubt.
Dave s, thanks for posting these great photos. Used to see the CVH motors coming home to Bedwas for some time over the pit, before heading back out.
I had a lift in an Astran coloured CVH transcon from Dover many years ago, the stories the driver was telling amazed me his passports full of visas and strange writing. I forget the drivers name, a big guy iirc from Bedwas/ Machen.
Does anyone know if CVH are still in business?

I believe CVH are still going to some extent. They have a yard and buildings still on Pant glas est. Bedwas. I am not sure what they do now as I can’t say I’ve seen many trucks there.
Neil.
On the first picture parked on the tapline the truck behind Audreys Daf(A Line) is one of Kelly Freight from Beragh and the driver looks like Phil Hagerty, not a very clear picture though.
C.MON Dave,s find some more
Its not the Tapline queue the roads not good enuf ,could it be waiting on the desert coming out of Iraq to go over the mountain to Zahco■■?
