Cv advice

Hi

I’ve finally passed all of my tests and got my class 2 licence/dqc and tacho card on the way.
I am going to start applying for some jobs.

My working life has been mixed to say the least!
From running a bed and breakfast to working in dispatch and logistics within a utilities company for the past 8 years.

Can anyone offer any cv advice at all!?
I’m 34, live in South Wales, and I’m mega keen to get started on the road. Don’t know what else to say really!

Any help is greatly appreciated

Will

It is best to keep a CV simple and basic. They do not have time to read a life story.
Something at the top to make you stand out from the crowd and get their attention.
Some attach a photo to it.Passport size from the Post Office machines.
Keep the details relevant to the job you are applying.
Key words are:Willing to learn.
Work well alone and un-supervised but also in a team enviroment with others.
Take pride in my work.
Nowadays most firms never respond to emails and phone calls.
Calling around in a quiet time of the day to meet the hirer and firer is a good option.

Thanks Toby. That sounds like good advice to me.
I’ll get one drafted today and see how I do.

Thanks again
Will

Never rush a CV use bullet point if you like but keep it plain & simple

Mine is 1 page like you have done a few jobs in my time but anything that you think is relevant to the job you are applying for

Try not to post the CVs but give them by hand to those that do the hiring - that way you get a bit of a chat as well

Thanks Rog, for the advice.
I will give them in by hand where possible then.
Exciting times.
