HGV Tailgaters should be made to help release the next Driver, dead or alive,
whose cab is now only 10 inches long.

I was on the M5 today and was catching a 18T puddle jumper at about 3mph, I indicated to overtake, he pulls into the middle lane also. I noticed he was quite away from the truck in front in lane 1, I knock the cc down to 52 and just wait for him to overtake, 2 miles later he is past the artic in lane 1. He then decides to sit in lane 2 for another 1/2 mile allvthe time I can see the artic in lane 1 flashing him in ever few seconds. Eventually this “driver” pulls into lane 1, I’m back up to 56, coming along side him I can see in his mirror he is ■■■■■■■ about with something down the side of him, he is drifting over the rumble strip and swerving all across the lanes next thing he looks at me and see’s almost level and the ■■■■ is upto 56 also hanging me out, I was about to turn cc off and drop back and noticed a hill, my merc drop into eco roll down hill and I left him, was really tempted to give him the coffee beans but what would it have achieved? So didn’t bother, but were surrounded by them mate there everywhere and this wasn’t some whippersnapper who doesn’t know better, it was an old coffin dodge in his late 50’s who should know better!
I always flash drivers in from artics down to caravans pulled by cars. I find most drivers appreciate it and signal a thank you.
Where I get a knob and lets face it there are quite a few these days I let him win. Sometimes I have come across a driver who sees me coming up and then suddenly finds a few more mph and makes it hard for me to overtake. I match his speed and tuck in behind him. I usually find that he slows down again and on the second attempt he lets me past. Can’t mind read but I think that been submissive often gets you want you want whereas been confrontational makes the situation 10 times worse. Just give in and try to educate them I say

Off topic a tad, but was coming up the A14 today, running empty, came up behind another guy slowing on the hills, chucked my indicator on (as you do) and as per, about 10 cars darted through, damned that they weren’t going to lose ten seconds behind an HGV. As I started to move over, some “gent” in a Passat estate, flew up lane 2, main beaming and full on the horns, had to dart back in, nearly put my motor on its nose etc etc etc. When I did get into lane 2, I gave him the cursory flash of the lights (as you do) and he stamped on his anchors.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, if anyone reading this got stuck in the tailback at Cathorpe, perhaps if said Passat driver had have not needed those ten seconds so badly, he’d have got his car home in one piece, and not had the tail end knackered (which by judging from the damage, I’d say could have been done by him cutting in on something much bigger than him)
What goes around …
Happened to me a few years ago and then the idiot cut in front of a van which rear ended his car. I stopped to tell plod what he had done earlier. I was later told that thanks to me they could up his charge to Dangerous Driving as there was a system of evidence. The van driver thanked me as he was in the clear and rightly so.

All I can see is C C R A P being posted I never once stated I am a good driver. No such thing as a GOOD driver. A driver learns on a daily basis
There is one set of rules for road users and pedestrians, the highway code. Flashing your lights at another road user or pedestrian has the same meaning as sounding your horn, its to make them aware of your presence, nothing else so I suggest you try not flashing anybody in for a day and see what happens. Its not as if your going to meet oncoming vehicles on a dual carriage way or motorway.

No such thing as a good driver eh.Maybe in your book there are no bad ones either…same as there is no such thing as a lane 2 or lane 3 eh?
Certainly a different logic Micky!
Of course there are good drivers but there are certainly no perfect drivers. Some are better than others because as you rightly say they learn on a daily basis.
Just thought as a professional you might have known the qualities that can make a good driver rather than a bad one.
Maybe you will not agree but they are…Concentration…Confidence…Responsibility…Anticipation…and Patience.
My biggest problem is being patient…What’s yours apart from me!
Something which seems to be happening a lot over the last couple of years and I would imagine to many more drivers than just me anc more frequently than cutting in early is the amount of vehicles 7:5 right up to 44tonnes that are either running down the white line or even on your side of it whilst passing. I had one such hero in a Premium artic belonging to a well known operator who was running so far over into my lane on the A1 that he actually had to flick it right to get his mirrors past mine and then came back over! I should point out that I was less than a wheels width from the grass on my nearside throughout this little escspade…
I would have been on the air horns!

That’s rich coming from someone who states that people who cannot string a sentence together make bad drivers.
Your starting to look stupid again and I suggest you stop.
I, once again, didn’t state there is no such thing as Lane 2, 3 and 4. These lanes are also known as “Overtaking lanes” so to make it slightly easy for you and that little twisted mind of yours
Lane 2 - Overtaking lane
Lane 3 - Overtaking lane
lane 4 - Overtaking lane
Looks to me your one of those lane hoggers who sits in one lane all the way down a motorway because “It’s lane 2”
Boring me now
Enjoy picking from the reply
I also like to know where I have stated that there is no such thing as a bad driver. Once again your spouting CRAP ← look there’s that word again.
I think you fail to see what I mean by
No such thing as a GOOD driver. A driver learns on a daily basis
No point explaining to you, you only twist it.
Sad troll springs to mind
Ignore list is getting full
Oh dear you do make me laugh!..
but when you say there is only one lane on a motorway as you did then that means(in English) that there are no more lanes.
So just to clarify then…lane one is a lane…lane 2 is a lane…lane 3 is a lane.
Get it now…easy peasy.
A few weeks ago I was going to immingham at 06.00 on the a180 when a driver overtook me. He then pulled in just missing my offside mirror.
But unknown to me when he pulled out to overtake me he also pulled out in front of an Audi.
So the Audi driver got passed him and slammed on the brakes. Then the obvious happened. Yes you got it. I ran right up his trailers Harris. Writing my truck off.
Very luckily I came away ok, just covered in glass.
Both drivers took off but luckily for me the driver behind got it all on dash cam.
Both drivers went to court.

2 options here either you are TRYING to be clever , or being serious, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and go for the latter.
I always back off a couple of clicks if the overtaking vehicle is struggling to get passed, being old school proper driver type, and I usually find that those who do not are the same type as the ones which were the subject of my o/p.
