Cut up twice by ES drivers

I’ve read a few posts on here where there’s been a lot said about the tarmac pounders at stobarts. Personally there just doing a job pretty much like me…unless idiotic driving comes into play. Saturday night on the M25 heading to Dagenham a Stobie driver overtaking me pulled in to my lane whilst I could still see most of his trailer in my mirrors.

If wasn’t paying attention and didn’t move into the hard shoulder to avoid the collision VOSA or the traffic cops would have been directing traffic around us both while a clean up crew cleared the mess. I was mad but thankful I was paying attention avoiding it all and making my drop.

On my way back again on the M25 another Stobie driver travelling a bit faster than me (53mph) did the same thing only this time he went one better. After almost taking out the front of my unit lane changing 20ft to early causing me to harsh brake he drove a hundred yards then pulled into the middle lane without indicating causing a guy in a transit doing about 70 to have a proper brown trouser moment, not to mention the car behind him who to miss rear ending the hard braking transit ended up in the outside lane.

Had I been a spiteful person I would have rang there depot and given them the registration. But that would have meant me stopping and adding to my own journey time so he got away with it…unless the ■■■■■■ driver dibbed him in!

Its not just ES, they’re everywhere, unfortunately when you have such a distinct livery they stick out like a sore thumb, if they had been anonymous box jockeys as is usually the case then you’d have not known which flip flop user was responsible.

Bumped into an old timer mate of mine couple of days ago who i hadn’t laid eyes on for over 20 years, long retired now but he was without doubt the most professional real lorry driver i have ever know and i learned much from him in my years working with him, type of bloke top of anyones poaching list.

He expressed dismay at the standard of lorry driving he sees when out and about, when i mentioned the changes to the lorry test re emergency braking/gearchnaging exercise he could hardly believe his ears, when i then mentioned the consultation over automatics being used for test purposes but qualifying for manual pass too in the future he just shook his head sadly.

Expect it to get worse in short order.

Without doubt it surely is or will be getting worse nearly every time a new driver ‘qualifies’.
