Customising your truck

Hi all.
Do many of you trampers customise your cabs to make them a little more homely / or more how you want them anyway

Dash tables
Full floor mats
Seat covers
Curtains

And anything else you can think of

Just wondering if you bother or do you think it’s a waste of money time to bother■■?

Hiya mate. Yeh, nothing wrong with making your truck up to home standards if you live in it. If you are at home you make it as comfortable as possible so what is the difference if you are in it more often than not.
I have the works, tv/dvd, fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, toastie maker, and all the rest of it.
A lot of that kit was bought for me by a previous GOOD employer.

I confessed to having frilly curtains a while ago on here  but got stick, so we don’t talk about it anymore
My motor is only a couple of yrs old so didn’t bother with seat covers.
Never been one for buying kit for the outside as it aint my motor, so not interested.

I would agree with not buying for the outside but I honk I would like to make the inside as nice as possible

… I was actually looking at the frilly curtains… I’ll say nothing else about this lol

Do you have any good sides that sell items like this for trucks ? I’d live of toasties lol

All I’ve got from your list, is seat covers, as my unit had some funny looking stains that I couldn’t shift, and a set of floor mats, just to make it tidier, cleaner looking and warmer underfoot.

I thought about a truck table, but a fella had one where I used to work, and I always wondered if it would decapitate me in the event of an accident.

My standard curtains are fine.

To be honest, I’d probably spend a little bit more if the unit wasn’t driven by anyone else on my days off.

The only things I leave in (as some toerag would have anything away, is the seat covers. I even take the mats home, or they’d be gone, or at the very least full of grease.

Just Google truck accessories mate. My microwave is a 24v Samsung I’ve had for about 10yrs, still going strong, you can buy cheaper kit like ‘All Ride’ but not as good quality imo.

As for the 24v toastie, I got it off a car boot sale, a guys wife was selling all his stuff cheap for revenge, after he traded her in for a younger model  I got all sorts of truck kit dirt cheap.

btw. VOSA usually jump on truck tables ( not literally  ) as a visibility issue, but if you drive an XXL MAN (last model) I’ll flog you one.

Get a powerfull inverter about 2000W get the fitter to wire it in properly then you can power microwaves, toasters, kettles owt like that. That’s what our gaffer has done for us mate.

I drive a 2011 XXL MAN, would have thought the tables would fit all models though. Aren’t the dashes all the same, even the current ones.

We’re getting new motors soon, but as yet we still don’t know what we’re getting.

Mine was a 2005 model
The facelift model, with the new type grille came in around 2007, the dash is different also.

To be honest an Iveco is a nice truck in terms of cab comfort, and lay out, maybe not fashionable with The big trucker/big balls posers, but who g.a.f. what they think.
I would swap my Actros for one tomorrow.

Customising is a pointless waste of money. Essentials are a separate issue.

Won’t be IVECO, we’ve not even got them on test. Just MAN, Volvo, Merc and DAF

I wouldn’t call mine the latest model, so I thought mine was the one he was talking about.

Would anyone treat a vehicle they didn’t like less than any normal truck?
I’m not advocating deliberately damaging a vehicle, but little things like not washing it, sweeping out etc just to make a point you hated said vehicle.
A colleague did this in an Iveco 18tonner a few years back. He used to keep his early Atego immaculate but was given a new Iveco (had the same cab as the last Sed Atkis), and hated it. He left it filthy inside and was told off a few times about it until he left.

I’d be keeping any truck I had with the upmost respect and keeping it clean as I am a tidy person… I don’t particularly like the house I own currently but I keep it immaculate… Surly this is how people should live

I go by the philosophy that if you give me a bag of ■■■■ then I will treat it as such.

Ditto, I would struggle to lavish attention on an Iveco or DAF CF.

I don’t lavish any attention on any truck. I make an effort on the essentials like cleaning lights, proper vehicle checks etc. Farmers spend a fortune/subsidies on tractors and look after them but they don’t waste time and effort on polishing them and sticking chrome on them because it has no bearing on the machines’ earning.
If I was given a budget to spend on stuff for my wagon it would be a decent taillift, load bearing curtains, electric pumptruck etc. Some silly stickers declaring bhp and a fake wooden steering wheel cover make no difference to my day or workload so are irrelevant to me.

Had never the allowance to drill Holes. But otherwise it was everything possible.

I like the interior of my wagon comfy with some personal items like my anusol and stuff, the exterior dies have a light bar on top that was already on it, doesn’t worry me as I didn’t pay for it.
Our boss likes the wagons to look clean externally to look good to customers and I can’t fault that.
But lights and bling is a personal thing and each to their own, it would be even more boring if we didn’t have some different adaptations to look at
Anyway it makes it easier for tango to spot us
