Another reason not to park on MSA.
I sometimes stop on that MSA, but only for a short break and only in daylight, even then if you want a pee or coffee you nip about sharpish because all sorts of dodgy looking sods are lurking about, especially on the southbound side.
Was it actual theft though or just the aftermath of another non driver who managed to rip the entire curtain out whilst making a mockery of the word maneuver?
I’ve had to lay on the horn before now to save having my tank written off by a box jockey making the mother of all pigs ears of reversing in there.

Looking at it, def a theft job imho.
I kind of admire the audacity of that to be honest. Talk about making a mockery of the idea of ‘secure’ MSA parking, just cut the whole curtain off and crack on!
How long would it take to cut that section of curtain out? How long would it take to handball the load into several smaller vehicles? How do ‘they’ know exactly if the load is worth having and taking the time or risk to rob it? And nobody saw or heard nothing? We’ve had to fit those bloody ‘washing lines’ through our buckles, recomommended by an auditor to ‘increase’ security on our trailers…we stopped doing our 1 night out/month ages ago so it’s all ‘non stop’ so to speak now…the day drivers love 'em when they’ve got certain collections to do!
I can’t believe nobody heard or saw all that going on! Presumably it was fully loaded so the thieves would have need a vehicle of equal size, I.e an artic [emoji362] therefore it must have been parked along side him for a long time.
Also, the driver must be one hell of a heavy sleeper to not feel a thing [emoji57]

Personally I would say that it was emptied elsewhere and the driver just cut the curtain in the services.
I can’t believe you would get that much off without either disturbing the driver or someone seeing something.
Could well be related to this, never noticed any more dodgy folk at that msa compared to any other.
South Yorkshire Police
Here’s a few pictures of an incident from 3am this morning. Officers were aware of a 17.5t HGV heading towards South Yorkshire which we suspected may have been used in a significant theft in Northants. With support from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Road Policing and the National Police Air Service, South Yorkshire Road Policing units stopped the HGV on the M1 just north of Meadowhall. The three occupants were all arrested and stolen goods worth appox. £30,000 were found in the back of the vehicle. Excellent result, not least because the vehicle was stopped without damage or injury, and the property is on its way back to the owner.

I’ve always refused to park at Northampton services. The Red Lion is at J16, it does proper food. The showers are great and yes the parking is like driving on the moon but it’s got far more room and it’s on Snap to boot.
I’m currently parked in Holland. Secure parking with automatic gate, CCTV and security guard. 17 Euro 50 cent. The money that you spend in the restaurant is knocked off the parking bill. Why anyone would want to stay in certain services (some are better than others) is beyond me. What’s even more mind boggling is that insurance companies view MSA parking as secure when it’s plaonl not!

Asten!
They reckon they park dead close, open the thieving vehicle’s curtain, cut the victim vehicle’s curtain, and pallet truck it over.
No they dont
No idea if it happened on this incident, but I have heard stories of curtain attacking thieves using sleeping gas sprayed through cab intakes to make the sleeping driver have a more intense rest break.

I find a couple of pints and a pair of earplugs affords me the same luxury

I couldn’t sleep very well, even after a couple of pints, as someone kept snoring and waking me up, was really eerie, as I was single driver alone in my cab all the time!
