Hey guys,
Just bought a used curtainside 7.5tonne. The curtains are in perfect nick the only problem is the logo of the previous company is still on the side. Want to avoid ditching these curtains for the time-being if possible and was just wondering what is the best way of removing the print from the curtains and still have the unit look reasonable.
The logo is in a block rather than individual letters so even if a “shadow” is left it wouldn’t be very noticeable
Cheers
Most curtains for the last 20 years have been printed with ink as it stays on better and lasts longer, getting it of is near impossible as it designed to stay on. Painting over is a very dodgy business, and the end results are usually disappointing, even if done by a professional for a few reasons.
1 inks isn’t paint and if painted over very often the solvents in the paint reactivates the pigments in the ink causing the ink colour to seep through the freshly applied paint.
2 getting a colour match is often dodgy as the curtains will have faded over the years and more often than not be blotchy, to overcome that it is necessary to paint all the curtains.
3 As the curtains continuously flex you will require special paint products to clean, prepare, and paint the curtains.
4 Even using all the right gear with in a few months you will notice the paint coming of round the buckles.
I no longer paint taut liner curtains, it’s not worth it.
I you are going to repaint them for your average 7.5 tonner (I’m thinking about 18 feet long 8.5 feet high ) you’ll require in the region of 6 liters of primer and 6 liters of paint each side as well as thinners and 4 liters of prepsol and some good degreaser.
What ever you do not be tempted to get a gallon of thinners and rub it of your self, you’ll end up with a mess.
Option 2 park the truck round the back of the local industrial estate one weekend, then claim a new set of curtains on your insurance.

What about covering the logo with a clip on version of your own in the same way Wincantonski do with adverts on the Heinz trailers ■■
There’s a firm that advertise in CM that do clip on adverts for curtainsiders. You get paid for showing the ad.
