Hi guys just wondering what you use to keep your curtain ratchets working properly have tried WD 40 and grease but they still seem to really seize up.I know this weather doesn’t help either but any advice would be very warmly welcomed.
These were always sprayed with a white aerosol waterproof grease whenever my truck went in for service, I never had to do anything extra even in the worst weather. Door hinges and locks were sprayed with the same stuff…

I employ a small Eastern European person to do this for me 
Cheers lads truck is serviced by dealer on a RM contract but they never seem to bother with the body will ask them to do them next time; if not will do myself thanks for suggestions and keep them coming.
Curtains ratchets on my trailer gets greased by the Ryder when it gets serviced. But I like to spray some Jizer or similar over the ratchets every couple of months then give them a good blast with the pressure washer. Gets rid of any rubbish that gets stuck in them. Spray plenty of fresh grease into the ratchets once I’ve done that. Never had problems with 4 ratchets and my trailer and its nearly 6yrs old now.
Thanks damoq mines a rigid but principal will be the same could hardly move release catch yesterday so me thinks your advice will be heeded was going to give a quick wire brush too don’t spouse it would hurt eh.Bloody embarrassing when you can hardly open your curtains 
Do not use grease.
Use silicon spray or only if not available, use a very thin machine oil and wipe off any excess.

Mmm yeah. Coz ratchets are such delicate pieces of equiptment eh?
Spray grease is ideal. Better than wd40 and the like, bit of salty road spray soon washes it off.
Another one id use is motorcycle chain lube, it lasts a while longer than spray grease
Don’t the ratchet handles have grease ■■■■■■■? If so then grease from a proper grease gun might be a sensible idea to try?

How do you reach? I,m a big lad but i think even i would struggle to get the old man high enough to give me ratchets a squirt
