Hi Captainmarvel; Marvelus pics in your album! Brought back many memories, thanks.
I used to visit Watford Gap services during the early 1980’s religiously every Sunday morning. The “fleets” used to come in for tea and I’d be there snapping away with the trusty camera. Maybe you were in one of the Curries’ convoys? Maybe you remember “posing” the trucks in a line for me…Here’s a few of my pics.
Watford Gap Services M1 southbound, just about any Sunday morning around 10am…

These photos are brilliant captmarvel, at this time I believe Curries were running about 30-40 lorries, in the 90’s they were not that far behind Eddie Stobart with around 300 lorries (including sub contractors) they put Dumfries on the map.

I remember the European transport side of the business being called CURRIE & JOHNSTONE (EUROPEAN TRANSPORT) LIMITED whilst the UK transport side was called CURRIES TRANSPORT SERVICES (DUMFRIES) LIMITED, it appears that the European & UK lorries had slightly different liveries. I remember Curries buying the three Y reg Roadtrains and I believe that Curries + Getrans AG was 90% owned by Curries Fuels Ltd, it allowed them more permits for Germany owning a company based there.
I have a couple of questions:-
What make of lorries did Curries own before they started buying Scanias?
The man who now owns Curries, Tom Barrie was he the man who owned 50% of John Miller?
spot on mate brings back the old days. doing a little out of warrington at the mo .(subbie) but nice to see the pics!
