yes that’s about 7.60 an hour but i think you could be right i should go for interview just for a look at the set up and wages keep you posted how i get on

well the set up at warrington is a small yard full of downtons trailers, with a couple of portacabins manned by a jock, i no the guys that were hired in lithuania who drive lith plated units are on a very poor wage, dont no anythink about the uk running of things but ive not heard many good things, why dont you try stobbie there down the next street if its nights your after also try downtons running from shotton, deeside

thank for that information mate will try others you have mentioned, might give j k Phillips a bell see if anything going or look round for some shunting work :unamused: :imp:

i dont think you want to shunt its really poor job i could probably point you to a shunting job if its still going 4 on 4 off but i did it for a month and its not just moving trailers its pulling curtains, strapping loads ect… for not alot of money, appleton are looking for drivers just go online fill in an application form, were abouts you live? send me pm if you wish

i do some subbie work for curries on and off and i know the bulk of thier euro work is done out of coatbridge depot by various johnny foreign subbies.
alihough some of them have been working with currie since way back to the days of compaq and digital contracts. like every big company they have cut thier fleet/driver numbers accordingly to suit the climate. they still have plenty of big name customers. they are still advertising for uk & euro subbies.

in thier favour i have to say they are a good company to work for according to the employed drivers iv,e known over the years and personally as a subbie iv,e never had any complaints. my only concern as a subbie would be working soley for them as thats all eggs in one basket scenario.but you are money in the bank same day every month 100%

did not take job it was 380,50 a week before tax what a load of you no what not worth it not for 50 hours a week on nights. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Strange that this thread cropped up Lol

A Curries International passed me going the opposite way on Sunday heading towards Sofia near Plevin, about 10 minutes behind him was one of Gilberts from Lincolnshire but I thought they closed down a couple of years back?

Gilberts was still in the original metalic blue colours with their name on etc, I wouldn’t have thought that Bulgaria would have been the best choice from Turkey but then again having driven on the Romanian roads or should I say moon craters Lol maybe going through Bulgaria and Serbia was a better option

This week they have been advertising for a class 1 driver round Northamptonshire
The advert says 491.25 for a 50 week which isnt to bad is it ?

Unfortunately not as I was following a bulgarian truck, I just noticed the Geoff Gilbert name and livery, thing for sure though, the truck was very clean and tidy

Theres plenty of Willi Betz BG tucks around this area, doing a range of work from tilts to car transporters
