A Bentley while some jerk drives, lives and sleeps in some crap Volvo on minimum wage + 20 odd quid as a security guard six days a week.
Volvo mirrors
DAF seats
MAN XXL cab
Decent stereo with iPod connection
Renault premium bed
Can’t be that hard to make can it?
I think they whole willy waving thing has gone the other way. The willy wavers now seem to be the ones who like to boast about how the truck is irrelevant to them and how they like driving old crap heaps, like Hinos. The rougher the suspension, the more tricky the inevitably manual gearbox the better. Almost like people try to prove how manly they are by willingly slumming it!
Myself, doubt anything will surpass the FH16 750 I drove. I was proud to drive that lorry and it was as perfect a truck as I’ve driven. Endless power, arm rests, auto box! Heaven! I like driving nice trucks with features that make life easier, and I’m not ashamed of that. If I never drive a manual truck again it’ll be too soon.
As for electronics ruining trucks, I remember drivers saying the same thing for at least 25 years, and yet in Africa, Asia and South America plenty of EPS Powerliners are still earning their keep. May come as a shock but electronics can be fixed too you know, often much more easily than mechanical things.

I wondered how long it would be before a sarcastic post like this appeared from one of the many users who lurk on this forum despite their obvious hatred of HGVs
The one that pays me the most
Willy waving?? Jesus wept has the lord of willy wavers had another irony by pass?

Ohhhhhhh, you were being ironic…I shall read all your future posts with that in mind now.

I would drive a shed if it it meant more money in the bank for me than some blinged up all singing ,dancing posh, expensive piece of crap that just enhanced the bosses reputation that I had to pay for by lower wages …
+1

Tell us why you like your truck and why think your truck is the envy of the all the other drivers.R serie Scania 440+ 6x2 mid lift, capable of doing at least 56mph would suit me just fine, no stupid windows, frilly bits, livery etc.
PS-I don’t give a zb what other truck drivers think of it!
Got to agree with you mate and to be honest, though I’ve just got an R450, the 13 plate R440 it replaced might have been in several aspects the better truck, but I jumped in feet 1st, only concern as to whether it had the Kitchen pack like the other one. Didn’t ask whether it had power option on the gear box or manual override
or the crappy Scania bed that didn’t clash with my driver seat
or a clutch pedal for slow manouvering
still its new

Ooooo touchy
Well I would like to drive something that is considered “top of the range” and for me that would probably be the FH750.
Yea of course you don’t need 750bhp for normal work, probably don’t need half the extra they fit to the truck as well and I’m not really bothered what others think of me, (spent many years driving old Renault’s so I think that proves that ) but why the hell not if it was on offer.
Although I wouldn’t take a pay cut or crap job for it.
I personally don’t understand this any truck will do, (but if that’s you then fine we’re all different.) I know there is not supposed to be a bad truck these days, but a year or so ago I had to go to Italy in a MAN TGX. It was nearly new, it had the big cab, and was well spec’ed, but I really didn’t get on with it. I hated the gearbox, I hated the bed although I only spent 2 nights in it, I hated the engine brake, I just didn’t feel is was as nice place to spend a few days as the FH I normally drive.
Juddian:
Couldn’t give a toss what anyone else covets, limited to 55 mph power unless you are on max weight and doing some serious road work, bhp figures are almost irrelevant now, what the hell difference does 440 or 750hp make on a typical journey, sod all, its all willy waving and look at me cobblers. If i had my choice in vehicle, which i won’t get unless i’m prepared to give up my proper job and work for peanuts elsewhere, i aint, would be a manual gearboxed large as possible cc engine under a small as possible cab, with a proper retarder or Jake built in, make is basically irrelevant as all European makes are stuffed to the gills with electronic junk anyway so 5 years and they’re buggered.
First choice would be a Hino 700 with a rear tag axle…i don’t do nights out any more and we have to get in some seriously tight places, so the smaller cab (if it has windows all round) might just mean the night monkeys hit less of it on the gantries and customers premises than they currently do, well in theory, in practice they don’t give a toss and nor does anyone else so carry on chaps and do yer worse??
Just a quickie, can you point out the ironic bits? You know, so I can learn from a master what with me being a bit simple 'n all

I know what you mean. I had to drive a 2 year old Super Space Cab DAF last week and it just got on my nerves!

I would like to start a thread on the truck that all drivers would like to have
I’d like to have a snot-green coloured 08 reg Renault Magnum.
I bought my self a w reg Foden as I wanted ■■■■■■■ jake eaton rockwell it’s only done 500,000 ks ,I would of liked an Erf but just couldn’t find the right spec ,I could of had a new lorry but for how often I need it it’s not worth it ,I sometimes wish I’d waited longer for a 14 litre or 15 litre cat ,who knows I drop one in yet ,i go for older because I mend everything my self .
My Premium is good enough. Plenty of power for a 26t, lovely to drive with that iShift box. Only wish it could have a better cab. Massive engine hump, and no locker space!

Last one I drove was a R440, capable, reliable etc but they messed about with it somehow so when it read 89 on the tacho it was actually doing 51/52 (gps) so what would have been a 12hr shift ended up taking 14+hrs to do, ffs [emoji49][emoji49]
