hiya,
Thanks “erfguy” used to overnight in Kirkpatrick Fleming in the late 50s early 60s
there was always a Blue Band or two parked up there would that be their home or
just drivers being allowed to take motors home (rare in those days) or was there
a depot there as well
thanks harry, long retired.

Hi hodgeturbo, Aye I heard Selwyn had got a new motor but not sure what, thanks for the info.

Honest question now, does the job really need a 480 engine and a sleeper cab? It seems like your loosing payload for no gain there!
380 day cab is more than up to the work of an 8 leg tipper!

There must be a limit DEW but I learned my lesson when I changed my Reiver for a Bison. It carried half a tonne less but the performance and reliability with the bigger engine increased the earnings. I think the British haulage industry got stuck in the maximum payload mentality and lost sight of what was actually a good wagon carrying slightly less much better, they certainly did in the tipper world.

Bob Walling is the third generation of his familys livestock haulage business, and hes now reached his 70s. His grandfather , Matt, is reputed to be the first farmer to transport livestock to Kendal Auction Mart in the 1930s. Since then , the methods of livestock haulage have changed considerably as now long multi-deckers are the norm.

Bob, like his father Harry before him , is very well-known by all connected with agriculture.
Currently, Bobs only wagon is this Volvo FL 613, the familys first non-British vehicle .
Bedfords, Commers ,Dodges , and a couple of Leylands were always the choice throughout many years.
Besides livestock, hay & straw and animal feedstuffs supplies were part of the family business.

Sadly, the Market in Kendal closed last week , and being replaced a brand new purposely-built Mart ,- which opens for trade
tomorrow,and is situated adjacent to the M6 Motorway ( junction 36 ) .

Bob hopes to continue the family business by leading livestock to and from the new Market.

Cheers, cattle wagon man.
