Hello CG, Trotters only had the one Foden and it has gone to CWM with the dry waste side. There’s a photo of it on this forum.Regards Hesket Born N Bred.

Hello hesket born and bred
Thankyou for that infomation marra. I saw a Trotters Scania the other day but it had ‘Heavy Haulage’ on the front. Whats that all about?
Kindest regards
CG

Hello CG, you must be mistaken we haven’t got any wagons with Heavy Haulage on the front. Regards Hesket Born N Bred

Apart from maybe Haltwhistle I don’t believe Robsons ever had any independantly functioning satellite depots, they just had parking arrangements at various customers/hauliers premises.I know they used, and worked closely with,Silver Roadways offices especially in Liverpool and probably because Silvers were owned by Tate & Lyle no doubt Robsons were in pole position for loads of Sugar ex T & L. I had a mate who drove for Wearing Bros. of Flookburgh and they were permanent subby’s to Robsons and my mate often loaded sugar ex T & L Liverpool.Cheers Bewick.

Honestly “H”,I wouldn’t know about that but what I do know is all Robsons traffic movements ( prior to the UG buyout) were managed from their only depot,Carlisle. They had the traffic office split up in the various sections,Trunkers, day men, roamers, shunters ect.it was asight to behold I can tell you,and this was before all this modern bollox of Planners err! computerisation, digi tachos and “can I go for a ■■■■ please” crap. You really do question how a big operation like Robsons functioned, you really do !! But thee and me “H” and the other proper old time drivers on the thread re-call that the industry did function, very well thank you,in by-gone years and Robsons would be one of the best !! Cheers Dennis.

r reet lads n lasses , i ya reet robsons did have a short stint with elddis at durham , they later moved to portobello at birtley reet next to coopers car auctions and opposite st ivels , old marshyys yard , started for hem myself back in 1984 at durham , only seems two minutes ago … remember thinkin someones ganna hoy a load of glass or timber all ower the pot holed riddin yard but thankfully never happened , didnt think a load wud stop on . anyone remember the death defying ramp at the entrance … whhhhhoooooah ya bugga , happy days

Hi ■■■■■■■■ Gill ,
It was The Literacy Magazine , a supplement of the Financial Times Business newspaper .
Mebbe a tad too technical for you , eh , marra ?
Try the local Library , - they`ll probably explain the story details to you , or ask Mr. Bewick ( politely ) , and
I am sure his business expertise will enlighten your inquisition.

Good Luck .
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
