Had to look back, thought it was ME that had spelled it wrong
… KirKbride Transport specialised in steel haulage flat trailers 70s to early 90s, a lot of work from BSC Gartcosh & Ravenscraig,(Scotland) both now long gone, and Llanwern & Orb( South Wales) they also had a couple of DAFs with Tilts, doing Middle East running as" Trans-Med Freight" They had quite a lot of subbies running for them in the early 80s, motors all in KTS colours. Anybody got any more KTS photos? Is Buycrider on here ( Fawltys star driver
) he can tell a few stories about KTS drivers getting to all the good work before him due to the hours he spent on the hard shoulder with no spanners

Hi lads, another good thread is this, as i remember a lot of these old firms from trammin up and down the M6 and M74 to and from scotland, also used to deliver to clarkes askham and kendal a lot. Remember a firm called Carters of Lindale, smart green Dafs. IIRC you could just see their yard on the old Lindale road as you went round the island before you went up Lindale hill on the 590.
If there is any pics of Carters on any of the earlier pages, my appologies as i’ve been through most of them but not all… excellent…
Hello.
Sorry robroy, I spelt it wrong. I should know better as I live near Kirkbride.
Thanks

It’s “Truckfing” thats the acknowledged expert on throwing pig iron about!! We either tipped it or it was lifted off by magnet at Crewe or Dagenham! Our motors were more reliable than Syd Prestons!!! Cheers Dennis.

no to stop the sea washing away the precious railwayline at parton
Evening all, Dennis, I always liked the look of those little Scania 80, and81s, (particularly those I saw in your colours)!, but never had any experience of them. The French loved the LB, and LS, (those conventionals, the tanker men, they adored them, Andre Giraud in particular). When I came “home” it was all 93s and 113,143 etc, so I really missed out. Have never even driven one!! What were they like to run? I loved the F86, I gather you were not so keen. Do you think that the 80, 81, was a better motor? why? Cheerio for now,(cut my first hay tonight, tastes, smells and feels great)!! Just keep the rain away!
