Well we don’t see any ESL units and trailers in t’Isle of Man but we had the odd one or two fridge boxes of his last Xmas.
By the way IOM Dept of Transport call all their wagons DOT to save money, not much fun lorry spotting in t’IOM
“george” Belfast is in Northern Ireland! not the IOM,You’ll have Mr.Webb rushing down to his Pharmacist in the morning and accusing him of perscribing the “wrong gear”!! Or he may just “amble” down to his local and tell the Barman that he must have had a “bad” pint last evening,as someone told him he actually lived in Belfast!! Cheers Dennis.
Alas there is a summer ferry from the IOM to both Dublin + Belfast, both of these places are worth a visit!
Thanks for the info George,it’s years since I was in Belfast and I keep saying we’ll go over but haven’t got round to it yet.
Tek no notice of Dennis,he was out supping last night,I’m surprised he knew where Belfast was…

I was just passing comment on the R reg 111 in a previous post which was relevant to the era I was involved with the industry! and IMO there was too much of an expanse of green at the fron’t.I didn’t reckon much to the lettering style either! But it is only my opinion CG! On the up to date livery,I really do not have an opinion as I am no longer involved but if you press me,and I know you delight in doing so! I would suggest that it looks like vandals have used an aerosol on the cab!!! Keep taking the tablets,Cheers Bewick.

Not according to the Stobart sycophants and crazed Eddie Spotters there isn’t!! As I’ve suggested earlier it would be benificial if they would “Foxtrot Oscar” and start their own site therebye leaving us lads in peace to get on with our own “crack” and not be irritated from time to time with their infantile worshipping of all things “fast eddie” !! Cheers Bewick.

Hello.
Just to let everyone know, Distington Vintage Rally is on this Sunday (3rd of July). Gates Open at 9.30am and it costs £5 to get in. I’ve gone for the last 3 years, and they have a great show of Lorries, Buses, Cars & Tractors. Well Worth Going.
Just in case anyone whats to go for the first time who hasn’t been before, the Rally is held at Hayes Castle Farm, which is right next to the old road through Distington.
Thanks,
■■■■■■■■ Gill
Might just go with the wife, 2 kids,is that £5 per car or per person, are kids the same or free,( just asking as I,m only a lowly paid trucker )
Hello robroy,
Distington Rally is £5 per person (but I think there is discounts for families and parking is free). Don’t worry if you don’t manager to get there, I will be posting some photos of the Rally on Sunday Teatime.
Cheers

Just been on the Syke Rd Industrial Estate in Wigton and I managed to get some photos of the A.D Boyes lorries that park there every week. Anyone know why they park there or who drives the lorries? Here are the Photos

Hello,
Just been to Silloth and got this photo of Carr’s Flour Mills DAF CF and Volvo FM12 Tankers. The DAF was bought new in 2009 to celebrate the 150th anniversity of Silloth Docks, which Carr’s played a major part in developing Silloth and the Docks.
Enjoy!

Hello.
Has anyone got some photos of Markley Transport (Silloth)? They packed in 2006/07 and there lorries were sold on to D.A Harrison’s, Reays Coaches & I think Thompson’s got some to. They were owned by Tony Markley (■■■■■■■ County Counciler), who now runs Carrs Coaches and Markley IT & Storage. Markley still runs one Scania 4 Seies Rigid today I think (managed to get a photo of this lorry a while back). The wagons they sold to D.A Harrisons are still on the road after asking a Harrisons driver.
Can anyone help?

Hello.
Thanks to hodgeturbo for posting the M&N Garners lorry. I’ll be posting some photos of Viv Lightfoot and Garners today (will be on by 7.00pm at the latest).
P.S. Has anyone got any photos of J.J Bateman’s lorries before he packed in? Seen his classic Aktinson at rallies around ■■■■■■■■ I think he ran a Volvo FH12 and a Iveco Eurocargo before they closed.
Can anyone Help?

The old Stobarts had one of the the smartest livery IMHO.

Well, far be it from me to stir the ■■■■ but i think that Stobart livery is ok same as Andrew says, anyroad look at all t’other ■■■■■■■■ hauliers that had a similar colour with a majority of green paintwork.I had a job to tell who was bloody who when going up through t’Lakes or over t’66 to Whitehaven in t’dark ages.Lawson was one,Irvings another and Boyes as well to name just a few…Was it summat to do with blending in with National Park like t’Peak District where I’m from?
Over…

Don,t know too much about them mate, the owner was called Willie Bell he had a few rigids 4&6 wheeler Leylands, AECs etc, blue livery, their base was behind where ATS is now at Wigton, I remember seeing them loading in Carrs when I was a kid early 70s
