The late Herbert Bell was was one factor, Willie driving the first Scania tanker for Lawsons, another gent named Wllie( a weedy marra frae Workington), and many others.yer weedy marra Willie could have been "Willie Warren " see page 18 of this forum, he used to work for Robsons
Yes Willie Warren was one of the crew. Some nice gent I remember was Jobby (or near to that name) came from Crosby me thinks.

You want to "git in " wid a few chip shops and use waste oil marra!!! these latest engines are supposed to love the stuff! Did you buy the Scania chassis off Grahams? Is Ken and Colin still there or has the younger generation taken over? I dealt with Grahams for many years,grand lads! I bought a few new motors of them over the years as well! Anyway best of luck with the new tipper I hope it does well for you.Cheers Dennis.

You can just about carry 20 ton then,thats about the norm for most eight legger tippers these days.

No but i knew Jimmy Lawson and tyson h up the road interesting topic.
Derwent Transport was formed through LAWSON,S HAULAGE ,TYSON H BURRIDGE,AND BRITISH STEEL,The formation came about through the rail plant at workington needing trailers to transport 60 foot rail.The trailers were designed to carry 18 60lb 60 foot rail.The trailer,s were looked after by lawsons and burridge,lawson,s had DT1 to DT5 and burridge had DT6 toDT10.
