Would the gadgy on the right be John Irvings brother,if it isn’t then its nearly his double? Bewick.

Bewick - not sure if Bill “Chuck” Irving’s brother was John, but there was always talk of transport in the family so could well be him

Bewick:

Chris Webb:
I remember Fearons and O’Niels when I was in and out of Marchon.

If Marchon was still there Chris you could watch them with your "Periscope"from your armchair!! When James O’Niell started he ran loads of used 45 gal barrels from W/haven to Bristol and loads of re-conned ones back to Marchon.I don’t know what sort of carriers licence he had, then he got into bulk tankers. He had a mate who drove for Henry Cookes at Milnthorpe,Ted Johnstone, and James would occaisionally stay the odd weekend in Milnthorpe, big “suppers” I remember!!! I think they became mates while staying regular in Les Cook’s digs in Stone on the A38 north of Bristol.Cheers Dennis.

My dad worked for " squeak " for over 20 yrs till him an the wagon went over to john Irving , I worked in the garage at spyatry for 6 yrs till I past my test .

Hodgeturbo.Your mention of V.Thompsons reminded me of the one that came into J&J Curries at dumfries to wash out the body with the hose it was a wet morning and having raised the box the current from an overhead cable arced 12ft and right down through,It did some damage the two front wheels complete with hubs were blown off the stub axles stripped the large securing nuts right off,Nearley every diaphram on both the unit and trailer was blown to bits when I first saw it I actually thought a car or some object had been underneath it the driver was a lucky lad he was outside it when it happened. eddie.
