The early days I am talking of Harry lived at Boltongate and was going night and day as a BRS sub-contractor.Dennis.
Dennis perhaps you can help me, Harry had a good friend based over in Middlesbrough, I think near Guisborough, he was a second hand truck dealer, he used to fly around the UK in a helicopter - I think his name was Tony Walker, did you know him?

His party piece was showing you the 20 Grand in readies he had in a brief case in the boot!! he also built Tipping trailers but I never reckoned them in comparison to the Tasker and Milmoor bodies on Fruehauf chassis.Cheers Dennis.

His Factory was in Stockton and as re-call I think he had some serious union problems and he packed it in but It’s only what I heard at the time and it was a while ago!!! Dennis.
A bit off topic, but while we are in the Teesside area can anybody remember the name of the recovery and repair garage at Haverton Hill, not far from the Transporter bridge on the road to Port Clarence?
Another one for Dennis why did T Brady have vehicles in the livery of Furness Transport? and why did nearly all West ■■■■■■■■ Hauliers have a green livery?
green■■?
you been counting stobbys in your sleep. green for all the highsiders,
us lot oot west had nice tranquil colours like, tysons blue, pickthalls red/brown, h & l two tone blue sometimes red, johnstons red, walter allison red, thomas,s brown, j r graham red, circuit freight yellow/blue,
green was only for them that cheated downhill so not only could you not hear them they could blend in with trees, an really scare you

Furness Transport was owned by a chap called Sammy Morgan and he either had 5 or 6 Eight wheelers on “A” licence and his main traffic was out of the shipyard so when he decided to sell his haulage interests he offered them to Athersmith Bros. first but Billy Athersmith was away on his annual cruise to South Africa and back so his two brothers Alf & Harold asked for time until Bill got back a month or so later because they couldn’t take the decision!!! So Sammy went straight round to Jack & Bob and guess what the Brady lads broke his arm off!!! So the firm of Furness Transport joined the Brady group! When I was at Brady’s in the later 60s they were running a few motors liveried Furness and one in particular was a new Mammouth Major tilt cab and it was driven by Ronnie Lomas who had come from Furness Transport to Brady’s.Dennis.

H& ME Fearon, JW Graham, V Thompson, Duncan Hill, Lawsons, Barnet & Graham, J & W Watt, AD Boyes, Peter Gregains, I was told there was a reason for everyone having a green livery and of course so did Eddie Stobart.

Alex Boyes Snr told me when I “were a lad” that you also needed a white roof then you could be seen coming ower’t dyke tops and folk could git oot’t way afore you got till them!!!Our Bewick colour of Signal Red with White roof was taken from the colours of Coward Bros. Sedbergh who I got my first 3 "A"licences off and Tommy Coward told me the same as Alex Boyes so it must have been kosher!!!Dennis.

The only reason I could offer was “Brady Bravado” because I haven’t a clue what traffic Ken had that would have en-hanced the then Brady operation!! If I am speaking to the Big-Un in the near future I will ask him!! Dennis.

Brady had some Seddon Atkinson that changed their livery to Ken Surplis and they always pulled Brady’s trailers. Do you remember the Brady Orange flatbed trailers they had in the 80’s and in the 90’s they seemed to be always pulling B Swindell trailers.

It can’t have been because they were all in the same Lodge as some of them lads couldn’t agree on it coming light in the morning!! and Aurther Hewitson was a former bus conductor on Ernie Harkness’s so he defo wouldn’t have got in!!! Bewick
