So you were cadging drinks even then? That’s how you got to be so rich. :unamused:

Hi Dennis, as the caption on the photo states it is a 66GX model. denoting a 6 wheel, 6 cylinder G Gardner X = 150 or 6LX. That specification of an ERF made for a really good motor as I can personally vouch for having operated one ex Jeff Stamper for 4 years. Better than those ■■■■■■■ Daganham Dustbins our marra was operating part of the time. Yuk.!
Cheers, Leyland 600.

I have to declare an interest here Gerald  My first new motor was a ■■■■■■■ V8 D1000 4 wheeler and I also purchased at later dates two V8 Perkins Mastiff tractor units  But I can say mine were treated with the greatest respect even though they were worked hard ! And I can say that during the time I ran them all three gave faultless service and IIRC the most serious niggle was a bit of fuel starvation on the 28 ton Mastiff when it was new which was quickly sorted otherwise the engines weren’t touched. By the time I started disposing of them at 3 year old there was just a faint sniff of burnt oil from the 26 ton unit but nothing to worry about. But no way did our V8’s get the thrashing our Marra would give his eh! :frowning: As a matter of interest did AHB run a 4 wheeler D1000 with a V8 ■■■■■■■ ? Cheers Dennis.

Three of the five ex WCBP R 112’s I bought waiting in the depot to go into the paint shop, the K. Fell 111 was ready to leave the depot to join Lancaster & District Training ( RTITB) who had bought it from us as it had a 5 speed box, they stretched it to a 6wheeler flat and I believe it ended up on the IOM so Chris Webb could have driven it on neets ! Cheers Bewick.
