Excellent info Gerald thanks! As a wee Lad as well as travelling all over in the ADB motors I was also a Pal of Joe Mumberson and I used to help him “on the coal” you know, holding the bags open to be filled and dragging them to the side for Joe to carry to deliveries. But Mumbersons coal used to come into Leegate from St Helens colliery and they would have so many days to empty the trucks before the “shunt” came to take the empties away. So it was a case of bagging as much as possible and sometimes shovelling in bulk onto the waggon and run it back to the Ireby yard. There was another coal merchant who’s name escapes me that also used Leegate ? Happy Days ! Cheers Dennis.

Hi Dennis
Just having a browse through a few pages on this thread and it got me wondering about whatever happened to your mate  ■■■■■■■■ Gill who you used to wind up now and again.Remember him ?

Hiya John, IIRC “CG” got fed up with all the jibes about him being an “Eddie” devotee and again IIRC he posted a fair well speech and said he wouldn’t be back on the site EVER !! pity “CF” wasn’t that way inclined :unamused:      Cheers Dennis.

Ah ! The name of ■■■■■■■■ Gill surfaced . Well , Stanfield , Dennis , et al , ,… youll be pleasantly surprised to learn that Mr. Gill successfully passed both stages of his sought-after H.G.V. licence . He now drives for Thompson Plant of Maryport . Hes now almost cast aside his fantasy of the Fast Eddie regime , and hes turned out to be a sensible lad , and is now very keen to learn the practical and driving side of road haulage . You must agree , hes made a determined effort since his early teenage years .

Just a bit of information for you .

Cheers , cattle wagon man .

Dare I suggest that C.G. may be interested in my Overpriced R&S Courses now that he’s apparently becoming a “proper” lorry driver? I could be tempted out of retirement for the right price.

Which side of the river do you want Dan ? If it is Dodding Green you want go in off the main A6 road. If it is the Farm on the other side you are better going in from the Appleby Road side out of Kendal along Mealbank lane. The bridge connecting the two lanes is a bit on the tight side for big vehicles. The recommended route into Mealbank Ind estate is from the A6. Hope this helps.Cheers Dennis.

Thanks Dennis ,all I have is the post code and Doddingholme, I’ll be looking for a tempory site doing some drilling ,the post code shows top side of the bridge but it could be anywhere .

Sounds to me like you should go in off the A6 first ! Cheers Dennis.
