Morning Hodge,
Bit of a mess that one! One I dug up from your manor, Cheer’s Pete

Another fine shot of one of my old long gone Marra Harry’s motors! Bewick.

hodgeturbo:
brown

I think these tag axle Scania 112’s were the most numerous motors in the Brown fleet. Bewick ref. page 184.

I believe this DAF would have been the last motor my old Pal George “Hiram” Holliday RIP bought prior to him selling up and retiring. Bewick.

yeah George Holliday lived at Hackthorpe Nr Penrith.
good friend of my late Boss Brian Harris

Hiya,
I think if it’s a coil it’s a lightweight 6LX the tyres look pretty round to me.
thanks harry, long retired.

I reckon Andrew Cooper could tell us to within 1 cwt ( 50 kg) what that coil weighs “H” and I don’t think it is overloading the drive axle of that F88 ! Norm might have been “on the zider oo arr” ! and it looks bigger than it really is, a bit like when your pointing “Percy at the Porcelain” “H” ( in the Brown Bear  ) Cheers Dennis.

Hiya Dennis
I cant stop Laffing,Wat Zider!!we cant make it here in Devon,We grow the rong apples “Bramley"s”

Hiya,
My sister and brother in law had quite a substantial farm just a tad North of Truro
and they produced a quite potent brew, for them and and the farmhands I tried it
a couple of times but it had the tendency to make me walk funny this was never
sold and produced from fruit farm orchard which wasn’t very big and tended by an
elderly inlaw who I think might have been the brewer/distiller of the potent brew
thanks harry, long retired.

I tipped at a farm near Lizzard Point last year.
I parked overnight in the farmyard, and me and the farmer went into Lizzard to the pub in his car.
I don’t normally drink cider, but had 2 pints of ‘Old Rattler’ with my meal .
Came out of the pub feeling great, but woke up next morning with a head like Birken Head…dodgy stuff when you aint used to it.

This apparently was a real nice motor and my mate on the Octopus Eric Poss always maintained it should have been delivered as a double drive model then it would have been piped for a trailer and he would have had it from new, I think it was similarly powered to the Octopus but how it would have stood up the work the Octopus did who knows. But it sure would have been an improvement on the LAD cab ! Maybe a bit hot in summer when I was “zzzzz” with my head on the bonnet  Cheers Bewick.

My money is about 5.5 tonnes for that coil, obviously caught between drops.

That was the only F88 that Burnholme ever ran, it was an early one, if memory serves I think it was H reg, and shock horror, they bought it new! It stayed on the fleet for well, it must have been 15 years or more, the acryllic sun visor would suggest that the photo is in later life.

Hello Norman,

I used to know Raymond very well, but over the passage of time I have lost touch with him.

He packed up a couple of years ago, I have been told that he is driving for Jenkinsons now, but I am not certain of this.
