Did he not have something like “Bateman frae spyatrae” on the back of the trailer.

I took this today at Jewsons Ponteland very smart IMO, Regards Larry.

Hi Lawrence, Parks from Roachburn Tindale Fell on the road from Brampton through Hallbankgate to Alston. The family have been in haulage for many years with just a single wagon usually a Bedford but I think this may be younger members of the family taking over as the founder must surely be retired by now.

Does anyone remember a haulier from out Whitehaven way (I think) called F Coates?

Went to slide show at flecky last night, excellent as usual. Many thanks to all who put on the event.

Nigel Scaife always delivers a very interesting Slideshow . Thanks Nigel .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Yes Roy, Nigel gave an excellent slide show last night as always with a great variety of wagons from old 1950s and 60 ■■■■■■■■ wagons up to the present day with a few from other parts of the country thrown in. The show was well supported and thanks must go to milkman Tom and his wife for organising the event and providing refreshments.
Cheers, Leyland 600.

Yes Ingmire, Frank Coates ran cattle wagons and was based at Moresby House, Howgate which became BRS Whitehaven depot HF code. The wagons were painted a pale green and were Thames Traders two I think. Howgate depot is now a Premier Inn and the depot workshop where Foden and Leyland 8 wheelers were maintained is now the Function Suite hosting wedding receptions. ( I wonder if they got all the grease and oil off the floor?) I was in the company of the well know BRS manager and friend who had the job of closing the depot down about 1973 I think. We were at a slide show of ■■■■■■■■ wagons at Fletchertown, a good number of slides depicted Howgate depot wagons loaded with slag ladles, bottom plates and prefabricated steelworks related structures after being loaded at the Chapel Bank works , Workington of Distington Engineering Company.
